is mentioned 13 times in the NT; in the Spirit, 24 times.
Note that in all these references it’s assumed that the reader understands what by the Spirit means. That is, Scripture doesn’t try and break that phrase down into modern terminology, like: He FELT the Spirit, or his feelings, emotions or his 5 senses, and then he acted.
It’s just bluntly put, by the Spirit, and the reader should understand.
Like, today, if you said that you did something by the Spirit, some may ask, What does that mean? You mean you had a gush of emotion, an ecstatic experience, which caused you to do something? Which may indicate that such really don’t know what it is to LIVE, move and serve by the Spirit. They may be more in the soulish-feely-touchy realm, on one hand, or on the other end of the spectrum, trying to function solely from their own intellectual understanding of Scripture, to the point that hearing His voice, to them, means solely an intellectual grasp of truth.
If any believer reading this doesn’t know what it means to live and serve by the Spirit, then please prayerfully seek God, with the Scriptures, about it.
