If we are gentle then we can perceive Him.

Technology is exploding exponentially these days. It’s not that people have suddenly become smarter. We’ve probably become dumber! It’s that technology leap-frogs off the back of each new breakthrough. The innovator today stands on the shoulders of those who went before and who paved the way. He inherits a legacy on which to build on.
Similarly, it was always God’s intention for His Church, from the start, that each new generation would stand on the shoulders of the one which went before. In fact, that’s the whole premise of NT leadership: that the elders bear the younger on their shoulders, so that the younger end up going further than their elders did, for they have the benefit of standing on their shoulders.
But this isn’t happening, by and large.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
On the natural level, our thoughts are not His thoughts, nor our ways His ways.
It takes the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, producing a walk of faith and obedience to His Word and His leading, for us to learn His ways. His ways are SO MUCH HIGHER than the way we would naturally choose.
Many choose a way which is much lower and much less than His ways.
Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another.
1 Corinthians 10:23-24 All things are lawful for me [All types of food etc. Not literally all things] but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s good.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also you do.
Some people have nothing to say…. but they say it very well.
There is a class of religious commentator which has made an art form out of saying nothing and saying it well… and being hailed as geniuses for doing so.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
(Note that it’s conditional)
Proverbs 11:5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
1Thessalonians 3:11 Now God himself even our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
2Thessalonians 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
There is nothing in Him that is NOT eternally glorious: A glory that never fades away.
Therefore, even a foretaste, even a glimpse into His glory is a glimpse into an INFINITE glory.
Like, we could say, Well, we don’t see much of His glory now, but the glimpse we do see is INFINITE.
Here’s a video report from CNN. Worth watching:
yet, as Phillipians chapter 2 points out, He VOLUNTARILY chose to take on the weakness, frailty and limitation of a human body, and to be truly, in every respect, a Man.
It’s the VOLUNTARY aspect that helps us understand this. Bcos His condescension was voluntary, it means that at any time He could have chosen to take back His “equality with God”. (You could say His “rights” as God, but that word is not quite accurate, as God doesn’t have “rights” in the normal sense as we would understand it. God gives rights to His creatures, but He is not a creature so as to have ‘rights’.)
In the Deity of His Personhood, there are things about His life as a Man on the earth which are unique, which could not apply to any other man :
a) The fact that men worshipped Him and He recieved their worship.
b) The fact that He had authority to forgive sins.
c) And the SIGNS the Father did to testify of Him are unique. There has never been a man who did what He did, either before or after His Incarnation.
d) His sinless life, and not having a sin nature: no indwelling sin. (But He still overcame sin as a Man, and not due to His Deity)
e) Twice the Father spoke from heaven with an audible voice: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
(Are there any more?)
The transfiguration highlighted to Peter, James and John the question of His glory as Deity, that was hidden or veiled by His humanity. They saw this Man suddenly begin to shine like the sun. They had to realize that this glory they saw on the mount IS His actual glory, the glory He always had while He was with them, but was hidden from them. The glory revealed on the Mount of Transfiguration was not a glory that came upon Him, it was a revelation of His existing glory.
(My comment from a forum)
Even so you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Matthew 23:28
It’s implied they really tried to give the appearance to others that they were righteous. They worked on their image and polished their presentation. Even prayed long prayers for a pretense, a show (Matt 23:14).
Too many are fooled by such outward public shows of spirituality. Jesus wasn’t fooled.
When someone tries to SHOW YOU, or tries to convince you, that they are spiritual, then that’s a red flag. Pray for them.
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
With ALL of our hearts. Not a quarter, not a half, not even 90%, but ALL : 100% LOVE.
Even 95% falls short of His due.
Both, our spirit (heart) AND soul (Hebrews 4:12). And our mind and strength : with all our makeup : with everything that we are.
In the choices we are faced with daily, consider whether the options you opt for, in any way, means even a slight trade-off regarding your love for Jesus.
He calls us to love Him with ALL our heart. We have worked out a way to live, where we love Him, but with less than all our heart.
Father, May everything i do, and all that i am, be an expression of love for you.
Watch Him drive the money-changers out of the Temple, near the end.
won’t cost you anything, but it can be worth a lot in God’s economy.
The baptism of John, from where was it? from heaven, or of men? Matthew 21:25a
In Christianity today, which things are FROM heaven, and which things are FROM men? A heavenly or earthly source?
He is so great! Even LIFE was His idea.

For I have no one like-minded, who will be genuinely concerned about your circumstances. For all seek their own interests, not the things of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:20-21
Here’s an exhortation – To be like-minded with Paul the Apostle! If we were to meet Paul would he say, Hey, here’s a like-minded saint to me! ?
The like-mindedness with Paul is in being genuinely concerned about the circumstances of the saints. Not seeking our own interests, but the interests of Christ Jesus.
What are His interests? It behooves us to find out.
We can see the wisdom of God in allowing the servants of the devil to have real power to do miracles.
It’s a test for the Church, to separate the Elect from the non-Elect.
It will separate and sanctify the Church.
When we see “believers” going after those who preach a false gospel and who are immoral, then, we can try and warn them, but if they don’t heed, then, even though it is sad they are deceived, from God’s perspective it is A GOOD THING that they, the non-Elect (false believers), go after false prophets, for it will maintain purity in the Church. For these people are bad leaven. God is doing the sifting and separating.
Therefore, God HAS A VERY SPECIFIC PURPOSE in allowing the devil’s servants to have real power to do miracles, and that is so that the chaff will be separated from among the wheat.
The devil is on a leash. He can only do what God allows him to do.
Matthew 7:22-23, Revelation 13:13-14, 16:13-14
Jesus said HE will build His Church. That’s a wonderful fact to grasp. Men can build their OWN “churches”, but only Jesus can build HIS Church.
And how does He build? Upon which rock? Upon the rock of the spiritual revelation of who Jesus is, which is given by the Father. Something which flesh and blood cannot reveal, but only the Father.
So, if we want to be a part of what Jesus is building, we need to look out for whom the Father is revealing His Son to, as we preach the gospel, and only work with those who have that revelation, and subsequent confession, which Peter had, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!
Jesus will only build upon this revelation. He said so.
