Jesus sometimes kills Christians

Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, will be guilty of the body of the Lord and of the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and in this way let him eat from the bread and drink from the cup. For he that eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not judging correctly the body of the Lord. Because of this many among you are weak and sick, and many have died. For if we judge ourselves correctly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, in order that we may not be condemned with the world.

(1 Cor. 11:27-32)

This tells us that, ultimately, Jesus will kill one of His own, a Christian, if they take the Table of the Lord in an unworthy manner, for then they are bringing judgment upon themselves.

If that startles you, then please read it again, as that is what Paul said.

Please note, this is not a matter of satan killing people.

In the Church in Corinth many were weak, and sick, and many had died, bcos they did not judge themselves correctly and went ahead and partook of the Table of the Lord anyway.

This tells us also how serious a practice the Table of the Lord is to Jesus Christ, that He would kill Christians over it.

The Lord Jesus doesn’t take it lightly, and neither should we.

And, if it’s a life or death matter, then how wonderfully Divine and gloriously blessed is the appropriate practice of it!

1Cor 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion (fellowship, participation) of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Are those who are judged in this way (who died) saved?

Yes.

For if we judge ourselves correctly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, in order that we may not be condemned with the world.

The purpose, then, for such a drastic judgment on regenerated Christians is that they should NOT be condemned with the world.

This message came to me a couple of months back after we had a family visit us, and after they partook in the Love Feast with us, about 4 of us felt the very tangible GRIEF of the Holy Spirit, and we understood that this family was not discerning the Body and Blood of the Lord.

Since then, we have learned, and 2 weeks back we were going to have the Table of the Lord, and we canceled it bcos a man came with whom we were sharing the gospel, and we discerned that he would not have understood if we had asked him to leave us when we ate our meal (he would have thought us unloving or highminded).

It turned out for glory, as that man is now a brother in the Lord.

It’s a meal, it was never meant to be a quick thing. Bcos its a meal, it then becomes an important matter – – who eats with us.
