..otherwise you may only see the earthen vessel, the clay jar which holds the Treasure, and you may miss out on seeing the Treasure : the externals hindering you from seeing as God sees.
But we have this Treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Cor 4:7
The ‘jar of clay’ is not only our physical body, for the present, but everything about us: spiritually, intellectually, socially, personality wise, etc. which is ‘earthen ware’ – earthly. It’s not necessarily bad, but it is temporary.
And earthenware pots are easily broken, we have to handle them with care.
