This is a request for effective covering prayer from our dear friends and brethren who read this blog, as Sheela and i will, LORD-willing, leave for S India, by car, tomorrow, and be away for about 2 weeks. We are going through some dangerous Maoist-controlled jungle areas, as well as the roads in India are very dangerous anyway (mayhem, basically). We request prayer for protection and for the LORD to speak thru us to the believers we will meet in different cities. I hope to keep posting here as we travel, we will cover a lot of miles. Thanks.

    Dear Ian and Sheela,
I have been praying for you and will continue to do so while you are on this mission. And for your whole family.

I saw the new pics of your family, and it brought tears to my eyes. What a bunch of precious children.

THANKS sooo much you guys for praying. We’ve just heard that there is trouble on the route, there is some political agitation, and in one area we pass thru the roads are blocked today. And as Sean said, please also pray for our family at home, Sheela’s mom will be with them.

Thanks for your love in Jesus our LORD.

I hope to post updates as we go along.

Last night we reached Narainpur and stayed with Sheila Hamilton there. It was good to catch up with old friends, then this morning we left just after 5am.

Now, We reached Ismail and Esther’s place near Vijaywada AP at 8:30 pm. We had a 2 hr delay bcos the Maoists cut down trees to block the road, and we had to wait while the police remove them.

    Thanks for praying!!

    Thanks much Ruth!

We reached Chennai this afternoon by 2pm and we are staying overnight with Richard’s brother. Richard has come with us on this trip, actually, one of the main purposes of the trip is to discuss his wedding arrangments with the families. We should be at his place tomorrow, sunday, at midday. They are 6 hrs south of Chennai.

We are going on a schedule bcos his fiances family is only free on a certain day, hence we’ve had to keep on schedule. When we started we got the news that the roads were blocked by political parties protesting, after the first day of our trip then we got the news that the blockade was lifted. They had a change of heart bcos people were protesting that they were doing it on christmas day. Anyway, we thanked our Father and kept pushing south. The jungle areas are really beautiful. I wish i could have got some snaps but my mobile battery went down.

We had a nice 8hr drive down from Chennai to Richard’s place. We arrived just in time for lunch and were treated to a seafood lunch, as his parents live near the sea. We have not eaten any seafood, let alone big fresh delicious prawns, for so long. Had a rest and now we are going to talk about the wedding, and then tomorrow go to his fiance’s family and discuss it there. Richard wants a wedding at home, so we’ve come to give him some support as this is an unheard of thing here.

    Thanks for praying.

    blessings to you all.

Our latest update is that we reached Coimbatore tonight.

Yesterday the meeting concerning Richard’s marriage went well and everything has been settled. It’s really the LORD’s hand how both families came to agree on everything. We had a good time preaching the gospel in that house as there were unsaved and hindus there as well. I will be conducting their marriage in June, which means another trip to S India then.

After that meeting we went to Ottamchatram for the night and stayed with our friends there. This morning we ducked up the mountain to buy some coffee beans at the estates where it is grown. We got a good deal, 16 kilos. Then we went back down the mountain to another town and had lunch with a lovely brother and his family. We had a good time in the word. Then he took us to an orphanage where i preached a short gospel message then we moved onto Coimbatore, staying with our friends there.

    Thanks for praying.

Are you recording any of these preachings? We’d like to hear ya! I am glad the trip is going well. It sounds like you are having fun!

God bless you both! And keep you!

Thanks for the good wishes, M’Kayla! When we get some recording equipment i’ll let you know.

Our trip is going well. We reached Bangalore this afternoon. We got one puncture, but we got it right outside a good eating joint where we had breakfast of Masala Dosa and omelette while waiting for the repair.

Tomorrow we are going to Hyderabad, quite a long drive.

We reached home today at 4pm. Thanks to all who prayed for us.
