We’re not envious at anyone’s popularity or apparent success in christendom. BUT we can only rejoice when a person has success or popularity BY FOLLOWING JESUS. How could we rejoice in anything less? The LORD knows our hearts that this is so.
I doubt that following Jesus will bring us to a place of popularity, but anything is possible with God.

If we can’t rejoice in what a person does and teaches, then we can’t rejoice when they have ‘success’.
If we can rejoice in a brother or sister’s life and testimony then we rejoice regardless of whether they are ‘successful’ or not.
Approved, approve, approval:
Rom 16:10 Greet Apelles approved in Christ.
approved:
G1384
δόκιμος
dokimos
dok’-ee-mos
From G1380; properly acceptable (current after assayal), that is, approved: – approved, tried.
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more
in knowledge and in all judgment;
That you may approve things that are excellent;
that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ;
(Philippians 1:9-10)
