Reeling it is, rocking and rolling and I wonder what will happen next. We seem to be in a time of natural disasters unlike ever before.

    Agreed.

When the earth is rocking and rolling, people may suddenly lose interest in Rock and Roll, briefly.

Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, and silver, and bronze, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Rev 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who has power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Rev 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

I’ve wondered how many salvations will come from tragedy or how a person who did not believe in or care to believe in God suddenly would. These verses seem to be pretty clear that they will not.

Sad thought really, when He is our only hope.

It touches on the issue of how sinful man judges God. Liberal ‘christianity’ also.

Once sharing the gospel with a young guy he said, If God sends people to hell, then I don’t want to know such a God. He was judging God, being judge and jury. He believed he had the authority to tell God what He should and shouldn’t do.

…and blasphemed the name of God, who has power over these plagues…

They clearly understand that the great disasters today are judgments of God, and they resent and hate God for doing it. They judge God instead of judging themselves.

    Re: Haiti

It appears there are some in Haiti who are repenting, in the wake of the devastation.

My guess is that those who are sincerely repenting have ACCEPTED the quake as a judgment of God, and have realized that He has, in His mercy alone, given them the opportunity to repent. They see their survival as God’s mercy. I hope that is the case.

    Quake shortened Earth’s days

    By Simon Lauder

The Earth moved about eight centimetres after the Chile earthquake. (Reuters: NASA)

Scientists say the Chilean earthquake was strong enough shift the Earth on its axis and make each day a fraction shorter.

Early analysis by NASA shows the axis of the Earth should have moved by about eight centimetres after the Chile earthquake.

He says the quake was strong enough to alter the distribution of the earth’s mass and therefore speed up the rotation of the planet.

I have noticed there is another “we are the world” concert scheduled for Haitian quake victims.

There is an almost unheard of amount of what I call “pseudo-Christianity” going on. People are espousing “Christian principles” but the principles are devoid of Christ. And the ones doing the hardest preaching about what we “citizens of the world” should be doing are the richest and most “elite” peoples of the world. Except for the folks who buy into it.

I must cut back on my electricity usage. (Fine, if the Lord mandates, I’ll do without it) I must cut back on gasoline usage. (I don’t use gasoline) You must live more simply to save the planet. (I’ve almost always lived simply) And yet…

God made us stewards of the earth, but He also expects us to heed His words. If we try to be stewards without being believers in Christ, then we are whistling in the wind.

  8. mkayla Says:

Good points Cheryl. Besides, we cannot control the earth or what is to become of it. That rests only in the hands of its creator, God. And there is no “saving” it.

  9. ian vincent Says:

    Amen, Cheryl and M’Kayla.

People are espousing “Christian principles” but the principles are devoid of Christ. And the ones doing the hardest preaching about what we “citizens of the world” should be doing are the richest and most “elite” peoples of the world. Except for the folks who buy into it.

It’s an interesting subject when we consider Rev. 17.

Cheryl, you mentioned “pseudo-christianity”. This is what Mystery Babylon is, and it is destined to rule over the world for a time.

The world was destined to take the basic principles of Jesus’ teaching, and yet discard Him.

That’s what Mystery Babylon does. It is a mutant form of Christianity but under many names.

Mahatma Ghandi did this, and most Hindus today, and right across the religious spectrum they have all BORROWED the teachings which originated with Jesus. The biggest gurus ALL quote this: John 17:21a That they all may be one…

Welcome to the era of earthquakes. The great tribulation is at the door.

    Chile still shaking.

A 6.4 in Indonesia last night. A 6.9 today in Japan.
