A note on 1 Corinthians Chapter 2
Just wanted to write a note of exhortation to dig-in to this chapter. It encourages us to yield to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It’s about His ministry in us and thru us, as we yield to, and cooperate with Him, by faith. He is active in us, searching out the deep things of God and revealing them to us; Revealing all the things that have been freely given to us by God, thru and in Christ Jesus. Then, our emphasis and attention should be on what the Spirit is doing, in us and in others. We simply yield to Him. Do you think you could do that?
Paul shows that in his life, and his preaching there is a TOTAL submission to the ministry of the Spirit of God, and therefore, Paul’s ministry and the ministry of the Spirit, are inseparable. In this way, his own natural limitations are actually a blessing, to show that his ministry is not on the natural plane at all. (This is nearly inconceivable today, when ministry is nearly exclusively by natural abilities. Many simply have “the gift of the gab” – a big mouth)
We need to understand this in the same way that Paul understood and lived what he wrote here. These words should encourage us all that our natural ability is totally separate to the ministry of the Spirit. Meaning, there is no excuse, no alibi, no way to back out from our responsibility and say, Who am I? I’m nothing. Yes! Exactly! Great qualifications to yield to the ministry of the Spirit.
