DESIRE is a very powerful word. Man is made in such a way that he will have desire for someone or something burning inside him. We are made that way. If the fire is going out it means our life’s candle is flickering dim. Desire is the fire, the pilot light, the eternal flame.
We have this wonderful promise from Jesus: A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he sends forth justice unto victory. Matthew 12:20
Even if there is only a small “smoking” candle, He will not put it out.
But let’s examine ourselves as to what, or for whom, our candle burns?
Do you desire God? Is there a fire burning inside you, which is DESIRE for God?
Whom have I in heaven but you? and there is none upon earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26
All men, except the hopelessly hopeless, have DESIRE.
Some desire God.
Some desire money and fame. Some desire self-fulfillment and pleasure. Some have a very simple desire, they just want to be amused and entertained.
And some desire God.
