Casting out a demon: A true account

August 31, 2012

From my good friend and brother Sean Scott:

We all became convinced that Blake had a demon, or multiple demons, inside him. On Thursday night, the guys in our fellowship usually gather for prayer. Blake joined us and it started all over again. He began resisting the word and getting really angry. The things he would say didn’t even make any sense! After praying with him, one of the brother finally asked if he was wanted to be delivered, if there was anything that he was holding on to that he was ready to give up. He finally said he was ready to be rid of his anger. As soon as he said that we began commanding the demon to come out of Blake. He fell to the floor and began screaming and dry heaving.

Before too long the demon left him. As soon as the demon left Him, he began weeping and crying out to Jesus. Nobody told him what to say, he just began calling on the name of Jesus. Amazingly, the name of Jesus was a name he could barely say before the demon came out. Once the demon came out, he was able to freely call on the name of Jesus to be saved.

Most of what is preached today is HUMANISM

August 30, 2012

Example: Joyce Meyer says:

“Judgment and criticism never bring joy. Showing love does. The choice is yours.”

But Jesus said in John 7:24 “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment”. (See also 1 Timothy 5:17-21)

Joyce may want to avoid being judged for milking millions of dollars out of dumb Christians and living the high-life at their expense.

Joyce’s teaching here is HUMANISM, in that it puts SELF at the center. In this case, it’s the pursuit of our own personal joy which is supposed to be the motivation for our actions, rather than pleasing God (whether that brings joy or not). The “prosperity gospel” is pure Humanism.

Back to Joyce’s point, above: The reason we should control our tongue and not sin with it is bcos that is RIGHT – that is RIGHTEOUSNESS, it pleases the LORD, and we want to please Him and not ourselves.

If Joyce Meyer thinks that all Christians are dumb enough to blindly do what she says and never judge anyone, in the hope that they won’t examine and judge her for her corruption and false-teachings, then she has judged the Body of Christ wrong. She has misjudged the Body of Christ.

Obeying God will always bring the TRUE joy of the LORD, but if a person is seeking SELF INTEREST then no matter how hard they try, they will not have the true joy of the LORD. The more a person makes seeking their own joy or happiness the object, the more illusive that happiness will be.

I can’t think of one popular preacher today, who, at least to some extent, does not preach HUMANISM.

By this shall all men know that you are my disciples

August 30, 2012

The Testimony of a Church is when you find that the sole reason they fellowship with each other is bcos they love each other. A true Church stands totally unique in the world, and different to all other groupings of people, as the only bond between the members is love. No other bond.

This is THE Testimony to the world of Jesus, when they see that the only reason we fellowship with each other is bcos we truly love each other, and they will understand that the reason we obey Jesus is bcos we love Him.

A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another. John 13:34-35

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.
1 Cor 13:1

The Apostle lays out the “dress-code”

August 30, 2012

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with decency and propriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (as becomes women professing godliness) with good works.
(1Tim 2:9-10)

Modest clothes : Clothes which do not reveal or highlight the body in a suggestive way. Modesty speaks of clothes which do not have any sexual appeal. Revealing or tight-fitting clothes are not modest and are an invitation for lust.

Then, if a person invites lust, then they are a party to it, and will be held accountable before God. If a girl wears tight, body-hugging jeans, and shows off her body to men, then the men who look at her and lust are committing fornication with her and she will be accountable for that (Matt 5:28).

Of course, if she dresses and behaves in a modest way, and a man still lusts after her, then she is innocent and not-guilty of causing others to sin.

With decency and self-control; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array

So, count-out expensive clothes and fashions, for both men and women. Paul is saying that such are giving a bad testimony (showing their love of this world and the pride of life : 1 John 2:15-16) which is contrary to the Gospel.

The shepherding role of elders

August 29, 2012

One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all respect; For if a man knows not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? (1Tim 3:4-5)

In every Church mentioned in the NT we see that they were governed by a group of co-equal elders/overseers/shepherd-pastors, and not by one senior pastor (no hierarchy).

Let’s look at one of the qualities Paul lists to qualify an elder: That he rules well his own family.

Look at the role of a father in a family. He is the spiritual head, under Christ, his head. This means that he first intercedes for his family, covers them in prayer, watches out for them, identifies and blocks the works of the enemy, shielding them in prayer, and teaching
them the Word.

Then, from this spiritual position as shepherd he attends to all their physical or natural needs and social needs. Such is the true love of Christ, it is first spiritual and then touches the natural.

So, just on this quality alone, we see that for a man to be recognized as an elder in the Church he must already be an elder-shepherd in his family, and be carrying out his responsibility faithfully, AND he must already be caring for God’s people as a shepherd, even before he is recognized as an elder.

Transfer these family responsibilities to the Church, and so you see a man who intercedes for and carries all the saints in the Assembly in prayer, by name, every day, and is always ready to help them, and does so, with no thought as to receiving anything in return (just as he
expects nothing in return for being a shepherd to his own family).

He intercedes for his spiritual family, covers them in prayer, watches out for them, identifies and blocks the works of the enemy, shielding them in prayer, and teaching them the Word.

Do not recognize any man as an elder who does not do this as his joy and his calling (and not bcos he’s paid to do it).

And you guys who desire to be elders (A good desire, 1 Tim 3:1) make sure you are first a faithful shepherd to your family, and a faithful spiritual elder to the younger saints who need your prayers and counsel.

What’s on your mind?

August 27, 2012

What’s on your mind? God, of course. What is more important to think about than Him?

What is fallen human nature? It’s an inner condition which causes people to make avoiding God their first priority in life. Their life amounts to simply a kind of a wall designed to keep any view of God out, and their inner-world, their thought life, so cluttered and jammed with stuff that there’s no space left on their hard drive for thoughts about God.

This was the first thing Adam and Eve did after they sinned – their first priority was to try and avoid any contact with God.

We still carry that nature (Our flesh and the Spirit are at war with one another – Gal 5:16-17) as Christians, yet God Himself, Christ in you, the Holy Spirit, should be INSIDE US to continually remind us that avoiding God is the most stupid thing we could ever try to do, and that it is really the root of what sin is.

...And we hid our faces from Him... (Isaiah 53:3)

Unbelief is the problem. Faith in Jesus Christ is the answer. “The righteousness of faith“. True faith IS righteousness (Rom 4:3, 13).

Who are these people?

August 23, 2012
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4

Some have called these the “tribulation saints”, but i don’t believe there’s any Scriptural basis that half the Body of Christ is raptured, and then more come into Christ after the rapture, for that would mean that Christ is divided into two bodies – the pre-rapture church and the post-rapture tribulation church. No, it can’t be.

I do believe the rapture is pre-wrath (in Rev 7, after the 6th Seal), but it’s not pre-antichrist – the reign of the Beast, as these verses show, as well as:

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come the falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition... 2 Thess 2:3

Those who refuse to hear His voice will be destroyed

August 20, 2012

(Hebrews 12:25-29)

Jesus speaks from heaven today.

His voice shakes the heavens and the earth, therefore listen to His voice.

The One who speaks from heaven is a CONSUMING FIRE!

Those who refuse to hear His voice will be destroyed.

Those who hear His voice and obey His voice will live with Him.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live”. John 5:25

“But those my enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me”. Luke 19:27

The sound of His voice brings a shaking.

Those things which can be shaken will be shaken and then removed.

Only that which cannot be shaken will remain.

When His Word comes it not only shakes the earth but it consumes the combustible things with Holy Fire.

The House-of-Cards Church is highly combustible, highly flammable, and will not stand the shaking of God’s Voice.

The things which can be shaken will be shaken and then removed.

We’re receiving a Kingdom which cannot be moved, cannot be shaken.

Let the things in your life which can be shaken be shaken and removed.

And it follows, then, that when we see God shaking those things which can be shaken, we ourselves should not be shaken.

Don’t be shaken when God shakes the false things in Christendom.

Let the unshakable Kingdom reign in your heart and mind. “Having done all to stand, stand therefore”…

“Let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear”.

Is Jesus your LIFE?

August 18, 2012

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4

You may think many things about Jesus, and He may be many things to you, and you may have much admiration and respect for Him, and you may sincerely believe that He is the Christ, the Son of God, but i want to ask you one thing – Do you relate to Him on the terms that now He is your LIFE?

Or do you relate to Him in terms other than this, that He exists separate to your existence – that He has His life and you have your life, and only sometimes do these two lives intersect (during “spiritual” or religious times)?

Is your life now defined SOLELY by who He is, and not by who you are, and neither by what you have done, or have not done?

This is what it means for Christ to be our LIFE!

Resurrection LIFE only comes thru death. Christ can only be your LIFE if you are no longer your life (pardon the grammar). If your life is still YOU, then Christ is not yet your LIFE.

(Galatians 2:20)

And when Jesus is a person’s LIFE it will become patently obvious to all.

Called to LOVE the Lord Jesus

August 16, 2012

We are not only called to believe on the Lord Jesus but we are called to LOVE Him. We believe in Jesus, but how much do we love Him?

Indian preacher with his own 747

August 16, 2012

As it turned out, most of the funds K.A. Paul raised were used to buy a huge 747 outfitted with a second-floor cabin that contained his own bed, complete with red and gold lamé bedspread. Paul flew the oversized aircraft to Third World nations where he grabbed as much publicity as possible by staging photo ops with politicians. He tried to convince them that his Houston-based organization, Gospel to the Unreached Millions, was alleviating world poverty.

In actuality, Paul was stealing from Christians to feed his monstrous ego.

When I visited India last week, I learned that K.A. Paul was arrested in May and is currently in jail in Andhra Pradesh. Authorities have charged that he hired a man to kill his own brother because the two were having a dispute over ministry properties. Now, this man who claimed to be a counselor to presidents and prime ministers has been placed in a mental hospital while he awaits trial.

The hypocrisy of Charisma Magazine is incredible! Where did K.A. Paul get the idea to fleece money out of naive Christians and live the high-life at their expense? I wonder if he ever read Charisma Magazine?

Surely the example set by Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar et. al. spurred him on? He learned it from them, from the “prosperity gospel” and “word of faith” cult which Charisma promotes. Charisma Magazine has been promoting these money preachers for years, and making money out of them. I hope there is real repentance at Charisma. It is IMMORAL to merchandize the gospel for financial gain.

Can you imagine if any of these preachers met Paul the Apostle what he would say to them?

Being Ready

August 15, 2012

If you believe in, and are prepared for, a post-tribulation rapture (or pre-wrath rapture), but it turns out that the rapture happens earlier than you thought, then you’re fine, and there’s no problem, and you will be so glad you were ready.

But if your hopes are set on a pre-trib rapture, and if the thought of suffering for Jesus is just unthinkable to you, then will you be ready to face the great tribulation when the antichrist comes and the rapture has not taken place?

I think my point is this: We might as well be as equally ready to go thru the great tribulation, as we are ready to be taken today – to be absent from the body and present with the LORD. That way we can’t lose. But the Christian who is not ready to go thru tribulation is not even really ready to meet the LORD if He came today.

How do you eat Jesus?

August 15, 2012

As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me. John 6:57

How do you eat Jesus? He explains it in the first half of this verse: As I live by the Father… So, “eating Jesus” means to live by Jesus.

Whom the Father was, and is to Jesus, Jesus is to be to us – in the same order.

How Jesus lived, and lives, by the Father, we are to live by the Son.

Note that Jesus didn’t “eat the Father” by taking communion, rather, it was His spiritual communion and life with His Father which was His food:

Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work. John 4:34

In this same order, this “eating Jesus” does not refer to, or amount to taking the bread and the wine, yet taking the LORD’s supper reminds us that our REAL food and our VERY LIFE OUT OF DEATH is derived by “eating Jesus”, as Jesus Himself “ate the Father” – by having Jesus as the fulfillment and contentment of our soul and life, and we will never hunger or thirst again!

I will seek you early in the morning!

August 15, 2012

Awake, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake EARLY. Psalm 57:8

O God, you are my God; EARLY will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is… Psalm 63:1

Awake, harp and lyre: I myself will awake EARLY. Psalm 108:2

With my soul have I desired you in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek you EARLY: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

This post is addressed mostly to the new, younger generation of disciples. Many of you are accustomed to staying up late, often doing “stuff” which you admit doesn’t help you to fulfill Jesus’ calling, and then you roll out of bed late, with little time to seek the LORD at the beginning of the day.

David didn’t do that, he got up early to seek God. The LORD Jesus didn’t do that either, he got up early and went out to be alone with His Father. In fact, every disciple who has made a difference, and overcome, in the last 2000 years, has done this same thing, walking in Jesus footsteps.

The revivalists of the seventeen and eighteen hundreds come to mind: Whitefield, Wesley, Finney, Spurgeon, et al, all made it a practice to go to bed as early as possible so as to get up as early as possible to wait on God and pray. The Wesleys were often preaching to large crowds in London’s Hyde Park at 6am, in all kinds of weather, rain and cold. Talk about “seizing the day“!

Straight away after i was born again i just knew intuitively that seeking God early in the morning was what He desires. Then, when i read that the revivalists did that, it confirmed it, and i’ve been doing it ever since. At first i used an alarm clock. Then it became unnecessary as God would awaken me early, calling me to meet with Him.

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: HE AWAKENS morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as the learned. Isaiah 50:4

Luther said something like this: “If I don’t pray at least three hours per day then satan will get an advantage over me”. You may not be in such a titanic spiritual struggle as Luther was thrust into, and we don’t want to make up any extra-Biblical laws, yet, let’s glean what truth is conveyed in this statement.

Perhaps satan has taken far more ground and advantage over many disciples than they realize, rendering them prayer-less and hence powerless?

It’s great to be saved!

August 14, 2012

King David spoke about the joy of his salvation:

Restore unto me the joy of your salvation; and uphold me with a free spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways; and sinners shall be converted unto you. Psalm 51:12-13

Do you have the joy of your salvation? Or, like David, do you need to ask the Father to restore the joy of your salvation to you?

The simple but profound JOY OF BEING SAVED from your sins, from your old nature, and from God’s just judgment, and translated into the Kingdom of God’s own Son, is the CATALYST and DRIVING FORCE in us to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and see sinners converted unto Him.

Consider just how GREAT His salvation is! So great a salvation (Heb 2:3).

How could the freed captives hide their joy and not tell those still in prison that the prison doors have been busted open by the Death of Christ?

Unashamedly tell the world how great it is to be saved! How great it is to know Jesus! How great it is to pass from death to life!

Grieving the Holy Spirit

August 13, 2012

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

The indwelling Holy Spirit, who is God, can be grieved in us, which is to be sad, distressed and sorrowful. Quite a sobering fact that we have the ability to cause God grief, as well as joy.

Grieving the Holy Spirit simply means to go against His truth, His witness, His prompting, His leading, instruction and guidance. It is the conscious rejection of His counsel, which is the Word of God.

Freedom in the Christian life is not freedom to do anything we can imagine. It is freedom to obey the Holy Spirit and be led by Him.

If we have grieved the Holy Spirit then we will also be grieved inside, for He is joined to us in our spirit, our inner-man, and it is He, the Spirit of Christ, Christ in us, who is our LIFE. If we grieve our LIFE then we are not living in His LIFE.

The person who can grieve the Holy Spirit and yet not be grieved within themselves surely does not have the Holy Spirit indwelling.

Just as our natural sensitivity to pain is a warning signal and alarm for our safety, ensuring that we care for our bodies and know when they are being injured or in danger, so is sensitivity to the Holy Spirit of God such an incalculable blessing, for thereby we know whether we are grieving Him or pleasing Him.

To go on grieving the Holy Spirit, and not care that we are grieving Him, is very dangerous.

We can safely assume that if He is not grieved with us then He is pleased with us. Why? For we trust Him to regulate our life – we defer to the rule of Christ over our lives, trusting Him to order and regulate our lives and work everything in us according to His good and perfect will.

What happens if there’s no religious system?

August 12, 2012

“A revival almost always begins among the laity. The ecclesiastical leaders seldom welcome reformation. History repeats itself. The present leaders are too comfortably situated as a rule to desire innovation that might require sacrifice on their part. And God’s fire only falls on sacrifice. An empty altar receives no fire. Cold intellectualism, formal ecclesiasticism, and priestly domination are altogether outside the genius of the Gospel.”

– Frank Bartleman : “The Azusa Street Revival” 1906

Good little article and good questions.

What happens if there’s no religious system? Usually, nothing. And that is why the system exists. Christians have been conditioned into being organized into action by someone they see as a spiritual authority. To organically fellowship and function together without an “authorized” person to lead them is virtually unknown.

So the system creates ignorance and then feeds off that ignorance and finds it self-justification from that ignorance of God’s ways and of Godly authority.

But it is possible for God to break thru this vicious cycle – this closed loop, and it requires laying down our lives for a few brethren and faithfully serving them, teaching and praying for them until they see the Kingdom and their place in it.

Beware lest you also be led away with the error of the wicked

August 11, 2012

And account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things beforehand, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:15-18

Peter is writing to brethren whom Paul had previously written to.

He says that those who twist what Paul wrote also twist the rest of the scriptures, and that all such are heading for destruction. If you meet a person who twists the scriptures you are a meeting a person who is heading for destruction.

They are called unlearned and unstable – that is, not really interested in learning the truth, but they know some truth, and this is just enough truth to make them dangerous, as they mix truth with error, and the resultant confusion results in instability – an unstable person – someone you cannot rely on.

Why are they heading for destruction? Bcos when people twist scripture they always do it for a reason and that is to justify their sin – to justify things they know the scripture denounces as sin.

And this is what Peter refers to here as the error of the wicked, and he warns us not to be led away with this same error of twisting the scriptures, of being unbelieving, and thus falling from our steadfast position.

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The One World Faith and not the One World Religion

August 7, 2012

Was reading up on Tony Blair, who heads his own “Faith Foundation” seeking inter-faith understanding between the different religions. While he claims to be a Christian he also talks a lot about people from all religions as having a legitimate faith in God, and he calls them “people of faith”, and further, he himself has great faith in this new emerging “faith”, which, he says, is increasing all over the planet in every religion and is the only hope for the future of the planet.

Finally, were this to become reality, there would, in my view, be one major and positive consequence for faith itself. It would allow those of us of faith to discuss and proclaim what our faith means to us, why Faith and Reason go hand in hand and how Faith enriches our lives and guides them, however that might be obscured by our human frailty. It would open up the potential of Faith to many who search for meaning, who are trapped in the present, but have come to regard the faith traditions as the anachronistic preserve of the irrational, the superstitious and the prejudiced. It would allow a true and rational belief in God to direct the path of the 21st Century. That is where Faith belongs. And why the world needs it.

From here

So the world needs a universal faith? This is Tony Blair’s “faith” – that it doesn’t matter by what name you call God, or whether you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only Savior, just as long as you have “a true and rational belief in God” then you are a person of legitimate “faith” – you are a legitimate member of the new universal One World Faith, of the global faith community and family, and this universal “faith” is what “the world needs” and is the only hope for the future of the world.

Note that he says that he is a Christian, so he claims to believe in Jesus, and at the same time believes that to deny Jesus Christ is also a legitimate “faith”, and even a “faith” which “enriches our lives and guides them”.

Tony Blair is spelling out the Antichrist’s mandate and agenda: That all religious faith is legitimate, good and noble, and therefore all the religions of the world can unite as “one faith” and still keep their own religions – there can be unity in diversity, as all worship the same God, but just by different names and concepts.

So we’re no longer looking at a One World Religion, but a One World Faith.
