The love of God is powerful

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1 John 4:11

If God was willing to love us, even when we were in our sins and did not love Him, then we should be willing to love those who are still in their sins and do not love Him. And we should understand that our obligation to love all is on the basis that God loves all, and by the fact that God’s love for us obligates us to love all. How could we not love those whom Christ loves? We would find ourselves conflicting with Him.

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

The very specific nature of our faith, that is, what exactly we have believed, is that we have believed that God loves us. There are many things to believe concerning God, many aspects to our faith, but the greatest of these is His love for us, of which we must be totally convinced. Are you absolutely convinced that He loves you? Did the Cross decide that for you once and for all?

In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17

The same boldness which the Son of God has before His Father, the everlasting God, is the same boldness we should have on Judgment Day before Him.

You are living in the world right now. Do you stand here in the world just as Jesus stands now in heaven, just as He is, clothed in His righteousness? Your life hidden in Him?

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has to do with punishment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

The love of God in Christ Jesus is the power of God to deliver us from all our fears, and even from the power of sin.

We love him, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

His love for us caused us to love Him. Loving Him is far more than merely sentiment, it is to willingly and joyfully trust and obey Him at all times. So, therefore, this love of God empowers us to love Him, to set us free from everything which could cause us to lose our love for Him. His love empowers us to abide in His love, and therefore live free from the power of sin, and everything contrary to His love, and that which works against it.

And finally:

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

The overcoming life is simply the overcoming LIFE of the Son of God in us : it is to believe that the OVER-COMER lives in you, for only on this basis do we overcome: that the greater One lives in us. How could we do anything good at all, if it were not for the fact that He, who alone is good, lives in us? (John 15:5)

There’s the CAUSE, and the EFFECT.

Bcos He first loved us (Cause) we now love Him (Effect)
