The time is short

But this I say, brothers, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away. 1 Cor. 7:29-31

  1. Mark Finger Says:

Do not get caught up in the things of this world … and not only ungodly things … but do not allow even your godly commitments to distract you from doing the will of God.

This is not easy for the married person (1 Corinthians 7:28).

The greater point here seems to be this: “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier,” (2 Timothy 2:4; Galatians 5:1; 2 Peter 2:20).

It is easier said than done …

    Thanks bro.

In contemporary Christian culture the above verses just wouldn’t translate.

The modern trend is to embrace the opposite, to travel in the opposite direction but thinking they are following Jesus.
