God’s rights

December 29, 2013

The Bible is about God. God is a Person and He made you a person, in His very own image. As a person there are things you like and dislike and maybe even things you hate. Similarly, God has things He likes, things He loves and things He objects to and even hates. The Bible is the only sure authority to tell us what those things are. Interested? Or are you still living in a delusion? Now, if your values and morals don’t match those of your Creator then is that His problem? Why do mere men get frustrated with their Creator, as if He didnt have the right to like what He likes and hate what He hates?

Does anyone give a hoot about God’s rights?

Every day

December 27, 2013

I’m still living in the first century when there was no christmas or easter but the reality of Jesus every day.

Glorious day very soon

December 27, 2013

When we are born of God we find that He is our Father, and when we finally come face to face with our Father when we get to heaven we will realize that He considers us His own children. When He looks at us we will see in His eyes that knowing, that He really knows us as His own children whom He has fathered. And knowing His fatherhood we will experience infinite love and not fear.

Renewed way of thinking

December 27, 2013

The renewal of the mind is a renewal in the way in which we think. Under the law of sin and death there was a certain way of thinking -our thoughtlife was concerned with our observing laws and traditions, the conscience finding no rest. But under grace our thoughtlife is brought captive to Christ and now our thinking is more about understanding and knowing Him, and these superior thoughts displace the weak and beggarly ones.

When people refuse to be baptized

December 20, 2013

When people hear the gospel but refuse to be baptized we could suggest this to them: Ask yourself the reason why you don’t want to be baptized – for that reason is the thing which stands between you and Jesus.

Prayer is talking with God

December 20, 2013

Love finds expression in talking with the one you love. And then when the one you love can’t be seen with your physical eyes then faith finds expression in talking with Him cos you know He hears. Faith, hope and love always seeks expression in talking with God or with communing with Him and remembering His Words and thinking deeply on His truth.

Trying out online fellowship?

December 20, 2013

Some people “tried out” real-life fellowship and found that it “didn’t work for them” so now they are trying out online fellowship. But if it didn’t work in real life it won’t work on the net.

Hmmm?

The onus is on whom?

December 20, 2013

With any extra-Biblical matters the onus, justification or burden of proof lies with the proponents and not the abstainers. Meaning, if the proponent of extra-Biblical things is offended by the abstainer of them, then it is not the abstainer who needs to justify why he abstains.

E.g. If the celebration of Christmas is not taught in the Bible then the man who abstains from that doesn’t need to justify himself to anyone.

Concerns with Mr Robertson’s morality?

December 20, 2013

Re: The duck man Phil Robertson: If the issue is about him expressing his personal opinion that a certain kind of behavior is wrong and even sinful then the reaction suggests some kind of Orwellian state where the Thought Police have discovered some wrong thoughts and need to take action. (The Thought Police must be very moral to be so concerned about Mr Robertson’s morality) But if it is the Bible which is in the dock then they should direct their censorship against the Bible and not against the poor fool who has been found guilty of quoting the Bible.

Society should just admit that even though the Bible plainly states what sin is they choose to not agree with the Bible or with the claims Scripture makes of being God’s Word. So then the issue is concerning the Bible not opinion. They have to decide whether to ban the Bible or not. Phil Robertson didn’t handle it very well, skirting the real issue, which he may not understand.

The issue is the Bible, not Phil Robertson’s opinions. Freedom of speech is an issue but not the central issue. The issue is over the parameters of freedom of speech, as there should never be absolute freedom of speech, that would be anarchy, people could defame each other and destroy others with impunity, but the issue is what defines hate speech. Therefore the issue is whether the Bible is hate speech.

Christian ministry is to love people

December 18, 2013

The love of Christ constrains us…

The essence of Christian service is to pray for folks. How could you have a burden to pray and continue unceasing in prayer for folks whom you don’t love?

So the primary expression of the love of Christ in us for folks is to pray for them. If you love someone you will pray for them.

Then, to look at Church (which should be our new life, a life of loving God’s people) it boils down to a commitment to love our brothers and sisters, beginning with a commitment to pray and then to serve them.

We should let love guide us and steer our actions. We should never lose sight that Church is about love for people – that’s what fellowship is.

Steer Clear

December 18, 2013

It’s wise to steer clear of any forms, types or expressions of Christianity which are not clearly and plainly taught and modeled in the New Testament.

Point being that if we are occupied with living out New Testament Christianity we won’t have any time left over for traditions which don’t have their origin in God but rather in man.

But if we are not living out NT Christianity then what does God think when we occupy ourselves with other forms of Christianity?

Great Privilege

December 17, 2013

…Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness… …So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him: male and female He created them. Gen. 1:26a, 27

It’s a great privilege to be made, to be a creature, and greater still to be made in the image of God.

He didn’t have to create us in His image. He created angels, multitudes of them, and they are intelligent, self-aware beings, and yet they are not made in His image.

So let’s thank Him for the privilege. We can even thank Him that we were made at all. Aren’t you glad you exist? Isn’t it much better than if you never existed?

Always be aware that you are created, and created in His image, and when that image was disfigured by sin He recreated you into the image of His Son, if you believe.

Now He wants us to relate to Him as both Creator and Re-creator or Redeemer. He loved us so much He didn’t throw us away, even though we made ourselves into trash and alienated ourselves from Him. If any one is in Christ he is a new creature… a new creation… (2 Cor. 5:17).

Present your chain for smashing

December 17, 2013

Chains are broken by the Blood of Christ. Bring your chains to Jesus for breaking. Watch Him smash it to pieces with the Blood-soaked hammer of His Word, His command – with His glistening two-edged sword. Do you have a chain? Don’t hide it, lay it at His pierced feet, present it to Him for smashing. This is the victory which overcomes the world, even our faith
