Questions to ask

Does it agree with the general tenor of Scripture? Is it something the Apostles would have given a hearty Amen to? Asking questions like these is how we test all things and hold fast to what is good.

Yep and not make a hash of it. Ian, i need help. Can you give me an analysis of Isaiah 63 vs1-6? Thanks

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
    (Isaiah 63:1-6 [KJV])

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Revelation of John 19:15 [KJV])

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
    (Revelation of John 14:15-20 [KJV])

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (I Corinthians 15:25 [KJV])

Hello JW, where are you? Please give your thoughts on this.

Sorry for the late reply. Just checked in. Even without checking commentaries, I knew this passage talks about Christ’s triumphant return and his judging his enemies. Thanks for tying it with Revelation.
The problem is this- to supplement my income here(the naira has lost its value against the world currencies), I decided to do freelance editing. I got this job editing for someone outside Lagos.
The word’bizarre’ is too mild to describe the junk he wrote. One, his grammatical and communicative competence is poor. Second, there is a cornucopia of incoherence in the work-misquoted, misapplied and misintepreted verses. Some of this guy’s teachings include the following:
    1. He is one of the two endtime witnesses spoken of in Revelation(the other is or will be his wife. I don’t think he’s married yet)
    2. The Great Tribulation is past
    3. Salvation has ended.
    4. He has seen God the Father and God the Son face to face.
    5. He saw Satan once and the latter bowed down to him.
    6. He is the destroyer talked about in Isaiah
    7. Salvation is ended and God doesnt appear to the righteous except the sinners.
    8. God has no need of women in the ministry and will not talk to them.
    9. Oh, Satan/Antichrist manifested himself as a white eagle during the funeral of ‘Bishop’ Benson Idahosa in Benin in 1995(Google that name) and that ‘appearance’ fulfilled Daniel’s words of the abomination of the desolation in the temple.
    10. The Holy Spirit is no longer on earth and he and his co witness have been given power to stand against the devil who is the lord of this world.
    11. The eagle is an unclean bird
    12. He even misquoted and misapplied this verse in Isaiah that says that ‘As the beast goes to rest, so the Spirit of the Lord will cause him to rest'( sorry but i will try to get that verse across and his interpretation)
    13. Claims that the prophets and the apostles spoke of him as the one to withstand the devil in the last days.
Ian, let me spare you the details. I don’t want to talk about what he said about Zechariah 3 and 4.
The reason why i asked that question was that according to this man, the devil was the one talking from verses 3-6 and that it was God asking those questions. I fired him an email, telling him that he was wrong. I recommended that he should check popular commentaries whose interpretations matched i.e Matthew Henry. Guess what he said? He said what i said was theory and he had no need of reading other people’s ‘theory’, that he had seen the Triune God and his revelations are sure and good for him. He said that his interpretation was from the ‘Holy Spirit’. i would have returned the job but unfortunately, i had spent the advance he sent.
Had i not been knowledgeable in the Word, people like this would have ruined my faith.
I know that the first six verses of Isaiah 63 refers to Christ and what he will do to His enemies when he returns. I know Edom is a type for human wickedness and pride.
    SO…..

    He sounds demon possessed.

What do you think Jesus thinks about someone who supports, helps, aids and abets a false prophet?

Are you sure you want to help him and receive the same punishment coming to him?

May the Lord help you make the right decision and lead you and guide you into a good work.

Thanks and forgive the late reply. My sentiments exactly. Guess the latest twist? My boss seized the first 187 pages i had corrected!

May the Lord help you get a new job. Amen.

    Amen.
