You could look to your inability, or to His ability.
Which one of these?
The authority of Scripture renders authority to every member of Christ’s body – it’s the ultimate source of spiritual authority in our personal lives. We will only see true restoration when the authority of Scripture truth becomes the actual source of spiritual authority in the lives of believers on a big scale. But for now it’s hard to find.
A note of caution: When i hear many describe the second coming of Jesus it sounds more like the rise of the antichrist they are describing than the coming of Jesus, which makes you wonder whether they will think the antichrist is Jesus.
The people who will follow the antichrist will scoff at the notion there is an antichrist, and those who believe the rapture is prior to the antichrist will think it safe to take the mark of the beast, as, in their mind, as they have not been raptured, it could not possibly be the antichrist.
…On the strength of His word…
(Think about it)
More than being saved from an external enemy, Jesus saves us from ourselves.
I guess the season of joy, peace and goodwill is over again for another year. Of course, in Christ there is no such spiritual season, it’s merely a social custom.
One universal characteristic of false teaching is it’s always illogical, contradicting the laws of logic, sound reasoning and the weight of Scripture. This is just one characteristic.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. (Mark 8:35)
Jesus defines life here as either saving it or losing it. A person is either in the process of saving their life or losing their life. Living is either an expression of saving or losing our life.
He speaks of losing our lives as a principle for living life to the full, which sounds like a paradox. An abundant life by losing your life, and His disciples are always losing their lives. Those outside His rule always seek to save their life, but those under His rule always lose their life, they continuously lose their life: their self-life, and their rank or standing in the world, is something they are always losing, always slipping out of their hands, and they consciously keep putting off their old life as a higher life replaces it, superseding it by eternal life, the life of Christ, as Paul said, putting off the old man and putting on the new man.
Whoever shall save his life shall lose it… therefore it is essential for disciples to know when and if they are seeking to save their lives, and what it means for them, personally, to be losing their life, daily, for the sake of knowing Jesus and for the sake of preaching the gospel.
I wonder how much of contemporary Christianity actually embodies death to self, and death to the world, thus taking the words of Jesus seriously? I wonder if this foundational gospel concept has all but become extinct?
“Peace on earth and goodwill to men”
What’s it like to not have peace in your heart and mind? I can barely remember, as i’ve had perfect peace the last 29 years since i met Jesus.
Never think of experiencing peace apart from having PEACE WITH GOD thru believing the reconciliation His Son made between God and man, making peace by the blood of His cross, taking away the enmity, the just reason we could not have peace (see Romans 5:1).
Any other peace is a false peace. Peace with God is all that matters.
The Catch 22 on December 22 is this: People don’t understand how Jesus built His church at the beginning, so they can’t recognize Him building His church today, they can only recognize the man-made forms. It’s like a person whose only ever heard English sit under a Chinese speaking teacher. Only God can break this closed loop or vicious circle by the truth of the Word of God.
At any instance where trust is placed in Jesus Christ, His power is there.
This is the only way to live.
Forever and ever is the Greek phrase “Eis aion, aion”, and in the references in the book of Revelation to God living for “eis aion, aion” it simply means there is no end to His life – No time when He will cease to be God. And, this same phrase is also used to describe Christians, and also those cast into the lake of fire. A child can understand this.
Any subject relating to God is more profound than we could ever know. It’s sad when i see people not touched or moved by how profound each scripture declaration about God is. For example, living forever. Just the thought makes the mind reel. We should bow before Him. But many just use these truths for their own intellectual entertainment, not touched by the profundity of them.
“I cannot bear it—that we should love Jesus little. It seems to me horrible. Not to have your heart all on fire for Christ—this is execrable! Let us love him to the utmost. Let us ask him to give us larger hearts, and to fire them with the flame that is his own, that we may love him to the utmost possibilities of affection.”
~ Charles Spurgeon
What percentage of the teachings and commands of Jesus are forbidden from being taught in your church, or are simply not taught: 5%, 20%, 50%, 90%?
A good question, Is what I’m doing an expression, in at least some measure, of the Kingdom of God?
Why do so many contemporary Christian singers sound like they’re constipated?
