No comparison
April 30, 2016It won’t be enough
April 30, 2016After you get everything you want, it still won’t be enough, the Bible says.
In Denial
April 30, 2016If there’s two things mankind is most in denial about it’s Heaven and Hell. Even in Christianity these two great realities don’t seem to be such great realities anymore.
Eklessia
April 30, 2016The NT Greek word for “church” is “Eklessia” : “Ek” meaning out, and “lessia” meaning called, so a called-out group of people. The word comes from the Greek political assembly, which was called The Eklessia.
Though it’s a simple enough concept it is packed with meaning: Called out of what, and called unto what? Called for what purpose? Who does the calling? What if they’re not called? ….. It’s pretty clear that the Eklessia is defined by the ONE who does the calling, Jesus Christ, who calls people out of the world and unto Him, out of sin and unto righteousness, that the purpose of the assembling together is totally defined by the One who called the assembly, for He calls a people together in Him and to Him, and for Him and by Him.
If it’s not about Him then it’s probably not His assembly, but if it’s about Him, His purpose, His truth, His teaching, His kingdom, His love and righteousness, then it’s most likely His Eklessia, His assembly. So, Eklessia is a calling from Jesus Christ. We need to heed His call to come together at His feet.
As if we never sinned
April 29, 2016Imagine God accepting you as if you had never sinned? Well, that’s the Gospel.
Do unto others
April 29, 2016Jesus teaches us to treat others the way we want to be treated, to speak to them with the same respect with which we would want to be spoken to.
No agreement with satan
April 29, 2016Any kind of agreement with the devil, sympathy with, or affection for anything coming from him will certainly give him ground in our lives, and it becomes paradoxical and extremely problematic if we are trying to cast out satan, and destroy his works, while at the same time in agreement with him on certain points and therefore under his influence. We can’t be against him and yet for him in some things, it is either one or the other.
Man has been busy
April 28, 2016Nearly every place on the planet has been given a name. Man has been quite busy.
A prescription
April 28, 2016“Drink no longer water only, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your often illnesses.”
(I Timothy 5:23)
It seems Timothy was often ill, and it seems to be related to his digestive system, and therefore Paul prescribes a little wine. Interesting that Paul doesn’t blame Timothy’s frequent illness on a lack of faith, or disobedience, or not believing the promises, or even the devil, he blames natural causes alone, and prescribes a natural cure, in this case.
We assume Timothy heeded his advice and enjoyed better health.
So, Apostles can sometimes prescribe natural cures.
How He purifies hearts
April 28, 2016…”Purifying their hearts by faith.” (Acts 15:9b)
Faith is the means by which He purifies our hearts – God purifies the heart which trusts in Jesus.
Not complicated
April 28, 2016There’s nothing complicated about Jesus.
He has none to waste
April 28, 2016God owns everything, the whole earth is His, and everything in it, all the silver and gold, all the resources, all the plants and animals, all the real estate, it’s all His, He has such abundance, plenty to spare, and yet He has none to waste, and He doesn’t believe in wasting, and He is displeased if we waste anything that is His, for it means we don’t appreciate that He gave it to us.
Best friend and worst enemy
April 26, 2016Jesus Christ is either the best friend or the worst enemy a person could ever have: there’s no greater friend, and there’s no more fearful an adversary as He.
No monopoly
April 26, 2016No race or tribe has a monopoly on goodness or evil.
The look of love
April 25, 2016The preacher who just “exudes love”, I think he practices that look at home in front of the mirror.
The hallmark of Revival
April 25, 2016The hallmark of true revival is character, and of false revival, only emotion, with no lasting change of character.
I believe Him
April 25, 2016Jesus Christ claimed to be the unique, only begotten Son of God, thus claiming equality with God.
I, for one, believe Him, and so do many others.
Free to follow what the Bible says
April 25, 2016“Free to follow what the Bible says” – This truth, when put into action, was a spark which ignited the Reformation, breaking the oppressive chains of Catholicism, and this same truth sets men free today from the religious system. You are free to follow what the Bible says, so why be a slave of men, or a slave to the traditions of men? Unless you break those chains you will remain a slave, a slave to your own flesh and pride, the carnal things which power the system. Be men and women of God, stand up and be counted, and do the things commanded by the Lord and His Apostles for the church. Wherever you are, just do it! You are free to follow what the Bible says, but that freedom is only if you know what the Bible says and lay down your life for the sheep, serving Christ and not man.
The only thing Jesus is building
April 24, 2016It has been said before that the only thing Jesus said He will build in this earth is His assembly – He never promised to build anything else.
Wait silently for God alone
April 24, 2016“Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense: I shall not be greatly moved…
…My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.”
(Psalm 62:1,2,5)
