A principle

Here’s a spiritual principle: False prophets/teachers/pastors always diminish the authority of God’s word because they find its authority competes with their authority – they know if people accept the authority of Scripture they will not follow or submit to them, not recognizing their spurious authority, so it’s a clash between these two authorities. Of course, anyone who diminishes God’s word reveals they have no authority from God to begin with. Now, false leaders always have devotees, and their devotees push the same line, under a spell.

Glad to see your comments, bro.

So, here’s, what i believe, is the Biblical perspective on this: True elders teach the word of God as the sole authority, and then those who follow Jesus are blessed and helped by their teaching of the word, and they voluntarily and freely recognize that God has therefore given them an element of spiritual authority in their life, like spiritual fathers. But it all hinges on the authority of the word of God.
