Wrong reasons

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” (James 4:2-3)
Let’s look at exactly what James is referring to when he says what they are asking for is something which they can consume to satisfy their lust (not necessarily sexual lust, in this instance). It could only be money or material things of value, for James alludes to something which can be spent or used to satisfy greed or pride.
So…. they don’t have ENOUGH money or possessions because they don’t ask, AND… also because they are asking for money or possessions to use for the wrong reasons.
Ironically, it speaks of a materialistic Christian who got so money-minded he forgot to ask for it.
