Asceticism and Hedonism

From God’s perspective our life is not our own, we are bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:20) and yet on the other hand, He gives us things to enjoy (1 Tim. 6:17) so that, in turn, we can appreciate Him in it. Ascetics are afraid to enjoy any of the good things God gives because, to them, enjoyment of things is sin, while hedonists mistakenly believe that getting what they want and feeling good is all that matters.
