The Cliff (Part 2)

X – Why won’t you believe that IF you go over the cliff you will die?

Y – Because the cliff doesn’t exist!

X – But believing it doesn’t exist doesn’t change the fact that IF you go over you will die.

Y – You think you are keeping yourself saved by not going over the cliff, therefore you believe in salvation by works not grace!

X – No, it’s all grace, …..AND IF you go over the cliff you will die. It’s nothing to do with earning salvation. God will do everything to prevent you going over the cliff EXCEPT forcing you not to sin, He will never take away your freedom to choose.

Y – God won’t let me sin!

X – So, the last time you sinned, what happened? Why did He “let” you sin if you believe He won’t let you sin?

Y – Where is the cliff, then?

X – Why do you want to know? Are you planning on seeing how close you can get to the edge without falling over? You don’t need to know, just don’t go that way and you’ll be fine. But IF you do start heading that way you should understand that you risk going over the cliff.

Y – I refuse to live in fear of going over the cliff!

X – So do I! But the difference is I don’t have any fear of going over the cliff because I believe the cliff exists and I keep well away from it. But you don’t have any fear of going over the cliff because you imagine it doesn’t exist. My way is more grounded in reality. Your way could be very dangerous IF you start heading toward the cliff still believing it doesn’t exist.

One Response to “The Cliff (Part 2)”

  1. ian vincent Says:

“I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

    Then also…

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in DEPARTING FROM the living God.” (Hebrews 3:12)

God says, I won’t depart from you, but YOU be careful you don’t depart from me.

To depart from someone you have to first be with them.

People will argue that it is superfluous for God to warn the brethren not to depart from Him, as departing is not possible.
