Spiritual?

May 28, 2017

A comment i made on FB:  Surely the witness of the Spirit to the written word of God never appeals to the ego of man, convincing him he is one of the spiritual elite to whom the “secrets” have been revealed, rather the Spirit will cause us to consider that the simple truth has been revealed to and believed by all true saints from Pentecost till now.

If we think we’re spiritual, we’re not.

Heartbreaking to watch

May 28, 2017

Even in a democracy, propaganda and brainwashing is allowed under the provision of freedom of speech, and if your democracy democratically decides to substitute laws of God for lawlessness, then, while it’s heartbreaking to watch, it has to be, but we can still speak out, proclaim Jesus Christ and pray.

Upward call

May 27, 2017

The call to prayer is a call to heaven, to come before the Throne of Grace which is in heaven. This is what real prayer is.

A Christian is a paradox

May 27, 2017

A Christian is a paradox in the world, because he loves his enemies so much that he prays for them and would even be willing to die for those who want to kill him.

Joy

May 27, 2017

Far greater than anything in this world is the joy of knowing Jesus Christ.

Cults

May 27, 2017

A “church” where many of the members attend all their life without being born again is not a church, it’s a cult. Let’s get real.

Proper value

May 26, 2017

A Christian puts a proper value on things, he knows that which endures forever, and that which is even now perishing and vanishing away.

Church

May 26, 2017

Gathering together (church) …… don’t rush it, take your time, let every person who wants to have a voice be heard, try and discuss the challenges each one faces, spend time praying for those needs, take time. Sure, a lot of people would not consider it “church”.

Politicians

May 26, 2017

Politicians. Pray for them. Thank God for them when they make right decisions, all the time knowing that the best politician will always be a mere politician, not a representative of the Kingdom of God.

If that’s what you want

May 26, 2017

Jesus Christ can change you from weak to strong, if that’s what you want.

Trying to stretch the truth

May 26, 2017

The truth of God’s word is not elastic, it can’t be stretched to fit your own ideas, for when truth is stretched it’s no longer the truth.

All the aspects of the nature of God

May 24, 2017

The true Christian draws immense comfort, courage, assurance and confidence from contemplating all the aspects of the nature of God.

Fallacious argument

May 24, 2017

In discussing Scripture, if one begins to use a fallacious argument then the topic is no longer what you were discussing, but shifts to discussing the nature of the fallacious argument.

Grace

May 24, 2017

Grace means we can do things humanly impossible, beyond human resources.

Polar opposites

May 23, 2017

These are polar opposites, looking to man for help, or looking to God for help.

Our time

May 23, 2017

Our time belongs to God, believe it or not.

God’s “control”?

May 22, 2017

My response to someone suggesting that God is not in control of the world:

It would hinge entirely on what one means by “control”. Take an earthly government, for example. Is the Australian government in “control” of the nation and the state of affairs, law and order etc? Yes. Does this mean that every crime committed, therefore, can be blamed on the Australian government? No. Then, compare this with God’s rule.

Nothing can compare

May 22, 2017

Nothing can compare with Jesus Christ.

Flowing

May 22, 2017

Flowing with the Spirit is a different kind of life to resisting the Spirit.

Allegiance?

May 22, 2017

A comment i made to someone who doesn’t believe Christians can join the armed forces:

The Jehovah’s Witnesses also say that anyone who joins the police, army or government, by swearing allegiance to such cannot therefore have allegiance to God.

Jesus demolished this false dichotomy by saying, “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and unto God that which is God’s”.

A Christian can join the police or armed forces and render to Caesar what is Caesars, and at the same time, render to God what is God’s.

Jesus Himself said there need be no contradiction between the two, and by rendering to Caesar what is due him he can still render to God what is due Him.

And it’s the same for everyone, we cannot put any allegiance above our allegiance to Jesus, but it’s nonsense to say that allegiance to Jesus means you can have no allegiance to anything else.

The first argument that usually comes up is, “You can’t serve two masters!”

Yes, spiritually, you cannot serve two masters, but not in the secular world, when the Bible says explicitly to obey secular authorities and even for slaves to obey their masters.
