Victor by His death

(Hebrews 2:14-15) “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

(Hebrews 2:9) “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should TASTE DEATH for every man.”

(John 10:10) “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”

(Colossians 1:13) “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son”

Notes on these verses:

Satan had the power of death over his subjects, and held them in bondage by fear.

Satan went about killing and destroying his own children, those who obeyed him.

By death, Jesus redeemed those children of the devil and made them children of God.

The death of Christ was penal and substitionary, He paid our penalty, and the penalty was death, so He died the one Man for all men.

Now, satan can no longer kill and destroy the redeemed, since the death of Christ has changed the ownership of them, they are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, washed pure and holy by the precious Blood of Christ, and made new creatures.

Hence, in relation to the people of God, satan’s power was destroyed when Jesus died.

So, it is by His DEATH that Jesus is Victor, and by His resurrection He applies what He accomplished through His death.

(and there is much more to it than this, these are just a few notes)
