Knowledge for knowledge sake

Eve saw that the tree was to be desired to make one wise. She was seeking knowledge or wisdom, but at that time she did not need to seek after any more wisdom or knowledge than what was already given to her by God. They had everything they needed, they didn’t lack a thing. But they believed the devil when he told them they lacked something, that God was keeping something from them.

So we have a NT parallel :

“..Ever learning, but never coming to the knowledge of the truth”
