The “occupation”

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” (Zechariah 12:3)

Why would “all the people of the earth” be against Jerusalem? Please pause a moment and consider the question. What could be the primal cause for this hatred? I take it to mean the whole world becomes against the fact that the Jewish people have sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem – this is the sore point, the “burdensome stone”, the painful wound which stirs up hatred in all the peoples of the earth. How could this happen? I suggest because the whole world becomes sympathetic to an Islamic claim over the city, thus characterizing the Jewish people as illegal immigrants or settlers in Jerusalem, who, by this fact, are, supposedly, causing insult and suffering to the Islamic people by denying them this city. How else could we interpret it other than a global siding with Islam over their belief the Jewish people have no right to live in Jerusalem, that they have an illegal occupation of Islamic land, and thus are criminally responsible, and need to be forcibly removed?

If you have another interpretation as to why all the peoples of the earth turn against Jerusalem I would like to hear it.
