What is “life”?

August 31, 2018

“At any time, it is estimated that there are some 10 quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000) individual insects alive.”

Put any of these under a microscope and you’re looking at a life, something which has a life, something which possesses life, and a certain degree of intelligence.

Where did the life come from? What is it, exactly?

Freedom

August 31, 2018

Australia’s Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, says Australia is a “free country”.

Yes, but it is a democracy, so people are quite capable of choosing to give up some or all of their freedoms, they are free to choose to relinquish their freedom, or, the freedom of the majority could impinge on the freedom of a minority.

A free country could come to a place where it uses its freedom to ban Christianity and marginalize Christians.

A free country, could, by virtue of its freedom, evolve into one where people are free to commit all kinds of evil, because they could use their freedom to redefine evil, and no one would be free to object or do anything about it.

Freedom.

Bottom line. This world cannot govern itself. Because no man can govern himself. He was created to be a child of God the Father. He can never be his own god. He can never simply do what seems right in his own eyes, without serious consequences. He’s not created for that. He can’t be independent of God and live.

This is why there are no solutions to the problems of this world. None at all.

Jesus said you must be BORN AGAIN. If there’s going to be peace on earth then the whole thing has to be BORN AGAIN.

A new creation.

A strange god

August 31, 2018
Kenneth Copeland says, “God created everything with faith. You have been given the same faith God has… ….speak your world into being…”

Nope.

Faith means to trust in the power of another. If God needed faith to create everything, then he must have had faith in someone else to create it. Faith is always placed in someone else. He would needed to have found another “god” greater than himself in whom he could trust to do it. Faith is trust, dependence on another.

Now, if he means that God had to have faith in himself, it gets even more absurd.

So, someone can stand in front of a “Jesus is Lord” banner, but then proceed to teach about a god which does not exist.

The only god I see there is the god of mammon.

Fellowship of the burning heart

August 30, 2018

“I am looking for the fellowship of the burning heart. I claim the Methodist and the Baptist as mine and I claim everybody that loves Jesus Christ as mine; but I am looking for the fellowship of the burning heart. Men and women of all generations and everywhere that love the savior until ‘adoration’ has become the new word and they do not have to be entertained or amused. This Christ was everything. He was their all in all… I am looking for men and women who are lost in worship, those who love God until he is the sweetheart of the soul.”

A lesson from mariners

August 30, 2018

Hold the course steady and you must reach your port, it’s only a matter of time.

Penultimate issue

August 30, 2018

The Authority of Scripture would have to be the penultimate issue, followed closely by the interpretation of Scripture, and then the application of Scripture.

Liberal 101

August 30, 2018

Liberal 101

“First he denies, then he equivocates, then he obfuscates.”

Equivocates: Uses ambiguous language so as to conceal the truth or avoid committing himself.

Obfuscates: Makes obscure, unclear, or unintelligible. Confuse, blur, muddle, jumble, complicate, garble, muddy, cloud, befog, muddy the waters.

“The debate all too often obfuscates the issue”

Son-ship

August 30, 2018

If you really want to get to know the Father, look at the Son, and consider well how He lived on earth in relation to His Father in Heaven. On the Cross He reconciled us to the Father, and by His life He showed us the way to live in right relationship with the Father. We are called to live as sons of the Father, because we are IN the Son – in Christ Jesus. Therefore we pray, “Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be your name!” In Christ we learn son-ship. The Father deals with us as sons.

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming

August 29, 2018

(I Thessalonians 3:12-13)

[12] And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

[13] To the end he may establish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

To be unblameable in holiness is to truly love all people, and thus, love God, for love is the fulfillment of the law.

Jesus is returning with all his saints – his sanctified ones. What a joy he is bringing our loved ones, who died in the Lord, back to this earth, and we will be with them forever.

But what terrible grief for those outside the Kingdom, who will never see their dear ones again, for all eternity they will never see them.

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming. Make way for the King. Surrender to his rule today, may he be your King today.

Maturity

August 28, 2018

Christian maturity is when what is above has far greater appeal and interest than what is below, when the mighty works of God fascinate much more than the great works of man.

We see those road signs, “Men at Work”, and do we see the signs of God at work? The works of God – God at work.

“We are his workmanship”

Points of Wonder

August 28, 2018

When you look up at the stars you’re looking at the same stars the first man looked at.

A lot has happened since then.

Commitment

August 27, 2018

We can’t talk about love if we’re not committed to people.

Otherwise, it’s just talk.

Light and darkness

August 26, 2018

Light and darkness never coexist, cohabit or commune.

The greatest thing in all the earth

August 26, 2018

Church is the greatest thing going in all the earth because it is the Assembling of the saints – the body of Christ coming together under her living Head, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Clarification: “Church” as defined in the New Testament.

Prophets today

August 26, 2018

One thing about prophets is they will always be thinking about God and always aware of him speaking to them.

(but check the NT definition of a prophet, first)

“Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sits by, let the first hold his peace. For you may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.”
(I Corinthians 14:29-31)
So, we are going to learn something, and we are going to be comforted.

Worth dying for

August 26, 2018

If the Truth is worth dying for, it’s worth living by.

Not alone

August 26, 2018

Encouragement and fellowship happens when you meet a fellow Christian who knows and experiences the LORD, and loves his truth at least as much as you do, and you know you are not alone.

Quality

August 26, 2018

“Quality before Quantity” applies in both the spiritual and the natural.

They choose

August 26, 2018

The mature Christian apprehends that the glory of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY infinitely surpasses and excels the glory of this fallen world, and they choose accordingly.
