That’s what Jesus said

February 17, 2019

“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”

Matthew 24:13

Jesus is addressing His disciples.

If you’re a disciple of Jesus then you’re justified by faith.

And unless you have been justified by faith you’re not His disciple.

If you’re not saved, this admonition to endure to the end does not apply to you, because if you’re not saved you’re not His disciple, and if you’re not His disciple then He’s not warning you to endure to the end.

So, the justified by faith disciple who endures to the end shall be saved.

Because enduring persecution doesn’t earn salvation. Even being martyred doesn’t earn salvation.

So Jesus is NOT saying that endurance earns salvation, but that one is saved by faith and REMAINS saved by faith.

Salvation can’t be earned, it is a free gift, however, after receiving this free gift of salvation one must endure until the end.

That’s what Jesus said.

Christian example assumes the one observing the good example has the ability to perceive it’s actually a good example they’re observing.

A simple wonder

February 16, 2019

One of the simple wonders of the Christian life is how beautiful songs of adoration just spontaneously spring forth from your spirit.

Esoteric quest

February 16, 2019

“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.”

Genesis 3:6a

What she was doing was looking for spiritual wisdom or knowledge independent of God, and even in defiance of God.

Esoteric or occult knowledge or revelation.

Sounds like the hyper-prophetic movement today.

Nothing has changed.

How to maintain the illusion

February 16, 2019

Between the guru and the devotee there has to be adequate distance for the illusion to work.

Many evangelical pastors understand this.

If someone’s not walking in the light, they’re walking in the dark.

They have a problem with God

February 16, 2019

Israel’s claim to the land is predicated solely on a promise of God. There lies the problem. The world doesn’t believe God gave that promise.

Even a fool

February 15, 2019

Even if a fool simply speaks what’s written in the Bible, people are hearing the greatest message ever heard.

In Christ

February 15, 2019

The more we realize we are nothing, the mightier we become in Christ, as we lean on Him alone.

February 15, 2019

Weighed in God’s scales, an hour spent alone with Him is weightier than all the rest of the stuff put together.

The biggest thing in my life

Real friendship

February 14, 2019

Lasting friendships are the only real friendships.

February 14, 2019

If you’re struggling to forgive someone, that’s easy, just go through the long catalogue of sins you’ve committed.

February 14, 2019

Maybe too cynical, but the best politician is a politician at best.

The same goes for “church” politics.

More than ready

February 14, 2019

A true Christian is ready for Christ to return today and lives for that reality, so, he’s not just ready, he can’t wait, he’s living in eager anticipation of the great day.

“In His presence is fullness of joy.”

So, now you know what to do if you want joy.

All or nothing

February 12, 2019

If you have Jesus you have everything.

If you don’t have Jesus you have nothing.

Bloody sacrifice

February 12, 2019

To the modern mind, blood sacrifice seems grotesque or bizarre, yet that’s what Jesus did, He was butchered and hung up to die as a bloody sacrifice to atone for the sins of the whole world. If there were any other way for God to redeem us, He surely would have done it.

February 12, 2019

If we are truly teaching Scripture, people become more interested in Scripture than in us.

And, imagine a scenario where someone says they’re interested in God, but not interested in what He’s said and done.

The present state

February 12, 2019

How pathetically superficial the modern Christian has become.
