Australia is unusual

May 20, 2019

How can a man with Christian values be elected as Prime Minister of a western nation?

Australia is a little different to other western nations.

It’s always been influenced by Christianity, but it doesn’t have a history of church.

When I was small I remember we didn’t lock the door when we went out. There was no need to.

There was Christian influence, but church attending Christians have always been a small minority in Australia.

Perhaps God has been protecting Australia from false Christianity?

I don’t know.

Faith and repentance

May 19, 2019

To understand the relationship between faith and repentance just think of the difference between light and darkness. We can’t have both, we can’t live in both. Likewise, you can’t have faith without repentance. It would be like trying to live in the light and the darkness simultaneously.

May 18, 2019

The Christian life should be lived in harmony with the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, as if He were coming today. If we love Him we are longing for His coming.

When it comes to “wisdom” some think it’s a hyper religious thing, when it’s more like not being an idiot.

What does Jesus think about it?

May 18, 2019

I just don’t think Jesus agrees with superficial Christianity or superficial church.

Judging God

May 18, 2019

Because people are made by God, in His image, they can’t help but believe something (other creatures don’t have beliefs) and it’s true that whatever they believe and do, is, at least to some degree, a judgment concerning God, for better or worse. There’s no neutrality.

How to not lose heart

May 17, 2019

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Psalm 27:13

A marriage is only as strong as the husband.

Get used to it

May 17, 2019

If you’re a sound Christian you need to get used to the fact that as the apostasy gathers momentum hardly anyone will understand what you’re talking about.

May 17, 2019

The job of the evangelist is to announce Good News to the world.

It’s the world’s problem if they don’t think it’s Good News.

Did you have the opportunity today to die to yourself or deny yourself?

If so, you’re blessed.

Are you holy?

May 17, 2019

Would others consider you a holy person?

Does Jesus consider you a holy person?

Would you consider yourself a holy person?

Persecution coming

May 16, 2019

The mainstream media is interested in the beliefs of Christians, but not interested in the beliefs of Muslims, or anyone else.

With the Australian Prime Minister, his religious beliefs are an election issue, but if he were Muslim it would be deeply offensive to make his religious beliefs a political issue.

Are people stupid?

Scott folded

May 15, 2019

So, Scott Morrison folded, knowing that if he answered the question in the affirmative he would lose the election.

As a Christian, why enter politics in the first place if you’re going to deny God’s word to get ahead?

I don’t believe he was at all compelled to deny God’s word, he should have directed the focus to what the Bible does actually say.

Then, the issue becomes, are Christians wrong for believing the Bible?

And, yet, just the fact that what the Bible says has become an election issue is a good thing, in my opinion.

It’s always good when people are confronted by what the Bible says.

The New Covenant is fully undertaken by God, in Christ, man can contribute nothing to the Covenant.

But, if you just leave it there it gives the impression that, because it’s all God, man has no responsibility, and it’s totally unconditional.

But if the use of the word “if” signifies a condition, then, “if you believe”, and, “if you continue to believe”, are conditions to the Covenant.

We can’t add anything to the Covenant, but we must have the one prerequisite to entering it and remaining in it: faith.

You can legitimately say your Faith is a gift from God, but you can’t say you’re not personally responsible for what you do with that precious gift.

Marrying for money

May 15, 2019

“The Prosperity Gospel is exactly like marrying someone for their money.”

The Lord would say,

You are in love with the idea that I can make you wealthy, but you don’t love ME.

What would it be like to have someone marry you for your money, knowing they really don’t love you?

Itching ears

May 15, 2019

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

2 Timothy 4:3-4

Ever had an itch? You just had to scratch it. Hard to resist. And if it’s in the middle of your back you get a sympathetic friend to scratch it, or a back scratcher.

So, itching ears is similar. It means desperately wanting to hear what you want to hear.

What do many carnal people want to hear?

Usually it revolves around sex or money.

So, in context, here, as Paul is referring to “Christians” and “Christian ministers” or teachers, what it means is there will be a lot of “Christians” who select the kind of teachers who affirm their covetousness or their sexual immorality, or even, simply, their self-righteous pride by having an elitist interpretation of the Bible.

Grappling with morality

May 12, 2019

Interesting to observe how Liberals grapple with morality….

They end up being moralizers, only, in reverse, they can’t help it,  man is made that way.

Life Giver

Staggered out of bed, tired and beat up, went to the Life Giver, an hour later rejuvenated, spirit, soul and body.
