Wise or foolish

Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

Matthew 25:1-4

Important to understand that the lamps here represent each person: each person is a spiritual lamp, and the Holy Spirit is the oil which provides the source of power for the light of Christ to shine brightly in each soul.

If we take the parable literally, it means only half of those who are looking for Jesus’ return will be ready to meet Him and be taken up to be with Him.

The other half: the light ran out, the oil ran out, they were foolish, they lived in such a way that whatever light or oil they once had was squandered or wasted, having neglected the true Source of their light.

……. and…. the foolish tried in vain to get oil from the wise.

They were not looking to the Source of the oil.

So many are looking to men, not the Source.
