Eloquence?

“These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”

1 Corinthians 2:13

And the Holy Spirit is still teaching today, and He hasn’t changed.

If He didn’t use human wisdom and eloquence then, He certainly doesn’t now.

Scripture is His language, it’s His text.

One problem with using human eloquence in the words we speak or teach is that it tends toward or leans toward people being taught by us more than taught by the Holy Spirit.

The goal in Christian ministry should be that the hearers are taught by the Holy Spirit.

And this is what Paul acknowledges here.

At the judgment seat of Christ it won’t be our eloquence which will be recognized, but, rather, the word of God.
