All sin is the same?

Some “Christians” are having the audacity to say all sin is the same in the sight of God.

What they’re saying is that the man who borrows $100 and doesn’t pay it back has committed the same gravity of offense as the man who kidnaps a little girl, then rapes, tortures and murders her.

THAT is exactly what they’re saying when they say all sin is the same in the sight of God, thus revealing their spiritual bankruptcy.

Thus it’s fast becoming one of the major issues of our day, separating the sheep from the goats, and the wheat from the tares.

The common fake argument Liberal Progressives are throwing up concerning the seriousness of homosexuality is that gluttony is also a sin, so what’s the difference between a homosexual and a glutton? So, if gluttons can be church members then so can homosexuals.

Great! So then rapists and murderers can also be church members!

If you look at the whole of the OT Law, breaking any law was sin, but there were differing punishments. For some offences it was required to bring a sin offering, like some turtledoves. More serious offences had more serious punishment, and then there was capital punishment for the most serious offences.

And we see the same carried over into the NT.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Paul is speaking on the subject of sin committed by believers. Then he mentions sins which will keep believers out of heaven.

    Note how specific he is.

He is not saying that sinless perfection (which is impossible) is the qualification for heaven.

He is saying that there are certain sins which, if a Christian is in bondage to them, will preclude them from heaven.

Reason being that it means they have crucified Jesus all over again to themselves, counted the blood wherewith they were sanctified as common or worthless, and trampled the Son of God under their feet, as per Hebrews 10.

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality SINS AGAINST HIS OWN BODY. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

    1 Corinthians 6:18-20

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

So, we see different kinds of sin, and differing consequences.
