The true church survived, but not all made it through alive.

She will survive until Jesus comes.

She will pass through the storm, though not all will make it through alive.

Some will make it through by the door of Martyrdom, and this has been so from the beginning.

Certainty amid uncertainty

This year is unparalleled in history. Never has UNCERTAINTY been so universally shared and experienced  by the human race as it is now. Suddenly the future seems so uncertain. The dreams of billions have been put on hold.

 

But those who follow Jesus DO HAVE A ROCK SOLID CERTAINTY. His word certainly remains true, regardless. He remains faithful and true to His word, to His promise.

 

These times were ordained for us to find Him certain, and faithful. For those of genuine faith, when we are weak, then we are strong.

Everyone has a job to do

How does this world function? What is the bottom line issue for survival?

 

Having a paying job.

 

Can the government give everyone a paying job?

 

It’s been tried and failed disastrously each time.

 

Then someone else has to give you a job.

 

Either, you become self employed or you work for someone else.

 

It’s been given the rather nasty name of Capitalism.

 

Sure it’s nowhere near perfect.

 

But the alternatives lead to societal collapse, eventually. If we know our history.

 

Christians look for a new heaven and new earth where righteousness reigns.

Christians and “politics” ?

 

If you were a Christian living in North Korea, a cruel totalitarian regime, wouldn’t you be praying for democracy, that the cries of the common people could be heard? Wouldn’t you rather live in a democracy than under a tyrannical dictator who thinks he is God, who believes he alone has the authority to decide who lives and who dies? And wouldn’t you see the chance of having democracy as a gift from God?

 

It’s easy to forget what the alternatives to democracy are, or what happens when democracy fails.

 

The early Christians had no such freedom or responsibility to choose the government. Such issues would never come up, it would be futile.

 

So, if democracy is indeed a gift from God, and Christians don’t appreciate it, maybe God will take it away, because we don’t deserve it?

 

But how much influence can one Christian have in their society?

 

Next to none.

 

But the economy of God is never about one Christian, it is about a mighty spiritual army in every tribe and nation.

 

Of course politics is not the power of the Gospel, and yet the Gospel touches on the realities and issues of life.

 

For example, is murdering babies a political issue or a God issue?

 

Which issues should Christians be silent on because it’s “political”?

 

Should the whole Christian community keep a blanket of silence over the evils of society?

 

Of course not. For then they would be complicit.

 

So, I’m suggesting there is a balance in the Christian life: In the world, but not of it, but salt and light in the world, not detached from the realities of life.

 

Out of the 24 hours God has given us today, I’m sure it’s quite balanced to spend 10 minutes thinking about the state of your nation and the world, and praying for those in authority, and speaking out when it seems right to do so.

Blame?

Christian, as Bible prophecy is fulfilled before our eyes don’t go looking for someone to blame, nor blame the devil, and certainly don’t blame God. It’s not about blame. It’s about the SAVIOR.

We speak righteousness and the truth because it’s always the right thing to do.

But we’re not trying to find someone to blame for the mess the world is in.

We ALL have contributed to the mess this world is in, yet some have contributed much more than others.

We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, scripture says.

And Christ Jesus died for us all.

And all who truly repent and believe on Him have their sins and guilt washed away, and have eternal life.

I believe the Babylon of Revelation 17 and 18 is understood by the term “mystery Babylon”, which means it is not simple to define.

It is defined spiritually.

In essence, it represents a counterfeit to true Christianity, as seen in the symbolism of an immoral woman.

The faithful church is called a bride.

The compromising church is called a prostitute.

Historically, the epicenter of this has been the city of Rome.

But it grew to encompass much more than Rome.

America has been the main source of immoral influence in the world, both by false teachers, and by Hollywood.

AND…  it’s perceived as a Christian nation.

Basically, no other nation fits the description.

I would think that the destruction of Babylon is twofold: both the end of America AND the end of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Lord Jesus is giving a practical measure or standard by which someone can know whether they will go to Heaven.

If a professing believer sees that his way of living is no better than the hypocrisy of a Pharisee, then Jesus assures him that at least he can know he is not going to Heaven.

And, if that’s the case, he had better repent now.

So Jesus sets a standard by which we can know our true state.
