Here, Jesus shows understanding and consciousness of His preexistence.

The Incarnation is incredible.

Such texts as these prove the Incarnation.

The Man, Jesus, was a visitor to this earth, coming from another place, a place where He was living with God from eternity.

This proves He was, and is, God in the flesh.

He took on a human body, and He took it on forever, in an irreversible event called the Incarnation.

After rising from the dead, His human body became a glorified human body, which is a real, physical “flesh and bone” body, yet without physical limitation, because it is glorified.

And He promised His followers the same glorified body.

We better understand God’s nature if we desire to have the same nature as He.

So, lust is totally against the nature of God.

It’s totally FOREIGN to Him.

See how His desire is we be free from lust?

Sexual lust, financial lust, power trips, ego trips… these are all FOREIGN to the nature of God.

Only by believing God’s promises in Christ Jesus can we be free from these so we can “partake” of or be in conformity to the very nature of God.

Do we want to have His nature?

Then we need to apprehend His promise of sanctifying us, spirit, soul and body.

What will happen to you the moment after you die?

Firstly, you will notice that you’ve lost your autonomy.

Your spirit has left your body, perhaps you’ll even see your dead body laying there as you hover above it, but you won’t be able to fly to wherever you want to.

You’ll be “in custody”, perhaps for the first time in your life. Someone else will take you where they determine, and you’ll have no choice.

In life there are only two roads, Jesus said.

There’s only two roads, and two destinations.

Choose this day whom you will serve.

Rest

“Let us therefore be diligent to enter that REST (literally, ‘Sabbath’) lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.” (Heb 4:11)

Continuing on the theme of Sabbath rest (and Sabbath means, rest).

If we take all of chapter 4 into consideration we see that “we who believe do enter into rest” (Verse 3).

And, “…he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.” (Verse 10)

So, the “work” which we need to rest from is not physical work, it is the work of TRYING TO EARN GOD’S ACCEPTANCE BY THE THINGS WE DO, even good things.

So, IRONICALLY, if one tries to “keep” the Sabbath Day, thinking observance of it makes them acceptable to God, then they are NOT entering into God’s Sabbath rest, even though they are outwardly trying to earn that acceptance.

The believer enters God’s rest because God gives them rest from the burden of their self achieved righteousness, which is no righteousness, because:

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”

(Galatians 3:10-12)

It means the person “under the law” is cursed if they infringe any of the requirements of the law.

In conclusion,

“…Whatever is not from faith is sin.”

(Romans 14:23b)

Righteous, holy living is supposed to be “from faith” and the fruit of faith, the fruit of the Spirit.

It should be the result of what you believe about Jesus Christ and His promises.

Look at verse 11 again:

“Let us therefore be diligent to enter that REST lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.” (Heb 4:11)

Therefore, disobedience is the evidence one has not entered His rest and ceased from his own works.

Being “under the law” does not produce obedience.

Only faith does.

Only the very mature Christian has the composure and presence of mind not to become unravelled when personally insulted.

But as to why we take offense can get complex.

If it’s merely because someone is rude to us, then to take offense is rather puerile.

But when you are disappointed with that person because you expected so much better from them, then the offense takes on a different meaning.

Or if that person is indirectly insulting Jesus Christ by mocking his truth which you speak, our offense becomes justified.

But becoming unravelled is never justified.

Jesus gave MANY moral commands, and He said that only the person who keeps His commands loves Him.

If you go through all the many commands of Jesus and His Apostles you will not find even one command to keep the Sabbath Day.

He expected them to understand that He is the fulfillment of the Sabbath.

Rest on Saturday, if you like, and if we don’t rest at least once a week we will suffer spiritually and physically.

But don’t think you’re “keeping” the Sabbath as in fulfilling the demands of the law as one still under the law, and not under grace.

People have usually interpreted this to mean to not follow the advice of the ungodly.

That’s true, but it’s much more than that.

It means to not let the belief systems and twisted values of the ungodly influence your beliefs, values and way of life.

Modern education, entertainment, and religion is all about indoctrination into an ungodly belief system.

For us, our LIFE comes from Jesus Christ alone.

So.. why then are we no longer obligated to keep the seven holy days or feasts instituted under the Old Covenant?

The only answer could be that Christ has made EVERY DAY holy by being the fulfillment of those feasts, which pointed to Him.

God once said to keep the seventh day holy.

This day of rest was a type and a shadow of the rest which God would give His people in Christ. In Christ we have rest from laboring to be acceptable to God, because He’s already accepted us. (See Colossians 2:16-17)

Then, in Christ, He made every day holy by virtue of making us holy, and therefore every day is to be kept holy unto the Lord.

There is no longer any external path to holiness. No external or symbolic adherence, but, now, from the heart, by the Spirit.

Now, for those in Christ, there is only a new creation.

Christian preaching and teaching is essentially supposed to be about explaining truths which one has experienced, lived out, and proved to be true in one’s life experience.

The person who doesn’t know Jesus is truly alone, and desolately alone.

One day, when their time on earth is up, they have to take a journey, and they can’t take any companion with them on that journey, they have to leave even the closest behind and go alone, and they will never see their loved ones again, forever.

Not so, if you know the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you, even until the end of the world’.

More comments on the Sabbath

It’s like this, in God’s sight, something is either a sin or it’s not a sin.

Look at the Ten Commandments. If it’s an idol, it’s an idol, if it’s a lie, it’s a lie, if it’s a theft, it’s a theft, if its adultery, its adultery.

A person is either committing these sins, or they’re not.

Now, to BREAK the Sabbath, according to the strict stipulations God gave, would be a sin just like any other sin IF we were still “under the law”.

If you broke any of those stipulations, such as drove your car to church, or had a bath, even, you would be sinning just as much as if you were committing adultery or lying, or stealing.

IF Christians are still “under the law” then ALL are guilty of breaking the Sabbath law continually, which would mean all are still in habitual sin or rebellion against God, the same as if they were always lying, stealing or committing adultery, including the Seventh Day Adventists who also don’t keep all the stipulations for the Sabbath.

Remember, under the law, if you do anything on Saturday then you are sinning, and rebelling against God.

So, the people into this stuff are still under the law and not under grace, so they’re not saved.

UNDER the Law of God, anyone who did any kind of work on Saturday was to be put to death.

Agreed?

SO…. WHY don’t we put people to death for that anymore?

It IS the Law of God, so why don’t we execute Sabbath breakers – those who cook a meal or take a bath or drive to church on Saturdays?

Answer?

WE ARE NO LONGER “UNDER THE LAW”.

If you are still under the law then you better execute yourself for continually breaking the requirements of the Sabbath law.

There are basically seven Holy Days commanded in the Old Testament.

No one could work on those days.

Now, why are these seven Holy Days totally absent from the New Testament?

Why do we find no record of Christians observing them or being commanded to?

Because they were fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

Had they not been fulfilled then we would be obliged to observe these days even now.

The context here is concerning professing Christians.

The world has always lived by lust and not had the Holy Spirit.

We are not saved by our works, but God’s work should be our top priority, as Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s business”.

My observation has been that those who regularly have counterfeit spiritual experiences often go through a cycle of ecstasy and depression.

They are “flying in the heavenlies” one day, and nearly suicidal the next.

This pattern, alone, should convince them that their understanding of what constitutes spiritual experience is false.

And they should look at their own experiences objectively and ask, How has this profited me over the last 10 years?

What has been the nett benefit of all these experiences?

For some, if they are honest, its brought them to near insanity.

Often they’ve been taught to visualize the things they desire.

This gives the demons entrance as they bring that visualization into the actual spirit realm.

A guy might start doing it thinking it’s just in his mind, but then something takes over and it becomes real and tangible.

Astral travel is an example.

We can’t have love without repentance.

We can’t have faith without repentance.

America is an enigma because never in history have so many people in one place heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then decided to reject Him.

A gift or grace, by it’s very nature, can either be recieved or rejected.

The grace of God can be recieved or rejected.

In Christianity, some get messed up when others disappoint them or let them down.

But that’s not true Christianity to begin with.

True Christianity is to trust in Jesus Christ alone.

The Bible never entertains the thought that man has the freedom to self determine what is right or wrong.

We would define a “Christian” as a follower of Jesus.

We would then need to define which “Jesus” we are referring to: the Biblical one, or the imaginary one.

Someone says, “You’re trying to stay saved by doing good works”.

God’s grace does not negate our responsibility.

Jesus has promised to keep us, and yet He also warns us not to depart from Him.

To heed His warning is perfectly compatible with salvation by grace alone.

Heeding a warning does not earn anything.

You are not staying saved by continually earning the right to stay saved.

Imagine trying to get paid for NOT doing something?

If you are not departing from the Lord that is something you are not doing.

Like this, someone gave you a very expensive gold coin.

Does this earn you special points with God so that He considers you’ve maintained your daily points target and therefore saved your skin for one more day?

Of course not.

BUT … if you have sinned over the last 24 hours and you have ignored the Holy Spirit’s conviction, then YOU have begun the process of hardening your own heart against God.

“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; 16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.”

The church in Corinth was very active in spiritual gifts, and it tended to chaos when they didn’t understand God’s order, so Paul explains that order.

Therefore these verses from Chapter 14 relate to ordering something which already exists.

It can’t be used to create something which doesn’t exist.

That is, if the Holy Spirit is not moving in the body corporately then getting people to prophecy in turn or give tongues with interpretation would be like flogging a dead horse.

These instructions are to steer something already in motion, and therefore wouldn’t apply where these gifts were not in use.

Therefore, if tongues speaking happens in the meeting then instruct with these verses as to their orderly use.

If the word of God is spontaneously coming to several in the meeting, instruct from these verses how that can proceed in an orderly fashion.

Babylon must be a “pariah” nation for ten of the most powerful nations to agree to destroy her.

And yet they also mourn at her destruction, in chapter 18.

It is clear that Babylon is destroyed by military action.

It’s a case where God uses people as instruments of judgment. And chapter 17 makes it clear that God will judge Babylon.

It seems that Babylon is the thing hindering the Antichrist from ruling the world, so he has it destroyed.

Maybe the followers of the Antichrist will reason that it was a necessary evil to destroy it in order to “save humanity “.
