“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end…”

Hebrews 3:12-14

Someone says, “You’re trying to stay saved by doing good works”.

God’s grace does not negate our responsibility.

Jesus has promised to keep us, and yet He also warns us not to depart from Him.

To heed His warning is perfectly compatible with salvation by grace alone.

Heeding a warning does not earn anything.

You are not staying saved by continually earning the right to stay saved.

Imagine trying to get paid for NOT doing something?

If you are not departing from the Lord that is something you are not doing.

Like this, someone gave you a very expensive gold coin.

You keep it, you treasure it.

Later the giver of the gold coin meets you.

But, would you say to him, “See! I didn’t throw away the coin! So this means I’m earning the coin!” ??

Of course not.

He would think you’re nuts for thinking that.

Just suppose you did not commit one sin over the last 24 hours.

Does this earn you special points with God so that He considers you’ve maintained your daily points target and therefore saved your skin for one more day?

Of course not.

BUT … if you have sinned over the last 24 hours and you have ignored the Holy Spirit’s conviction, then YOU have begun the process of hardening your own heart against God.

“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; 16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.”

Hebrews 12:14-17

True faith can only come from a repentant heart.

The unrepentant, cold and callous, arrogant heart can’t have faith.

How can you be reconciled to God right now?

The answer rests on one great fact: Jesus Christ died on your behalf.

God has made reconciliation. It’s been done. Jesus paid the price.

But you’re not reconciled to Him until you believe He has reconciled you.

This true faith comes from a repentant heart.

The Person who knows you better than you know yourself is the best Person to consult concerning yourself.

If you read the New Testament you can know in advance how it will turn out for you on Judgment Day.

Judgment Day will be the penultimate closure and settlement of all the outstanding issues concerning the human race because every hidden thing will be revealed and the truth will come out – the true nature of things revealed, and true justice will be done, Jesus said.

And Jesus has been appointed to Judge on that Day.

The premise of the Theory of Evolution is that everything that exists came from nothing and for no reason.

But, everything coming from nothing and for no reason is not scientific.

Therefore we’re not wrong to label it a philosophy and not legitimate science.

Christian, if you can perceive the glory of God then you have a share and a participation in that glory.

That’s how faith works.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 3:18
