Looking at Jesus ministry, the healings and deliverance were indeed signs of who He was/is, and yet they were not only signs or proofs.. “Signs” was only one aspect of the miraculous. The other aspect was the compassion of God on the sick and oppressed.

In other words, signs were not purely for proving who Jesus is, but also an expression of Gods compassion.

Today we shouldn’t be thinking that signs or the miraculous prove anything, we should be thinking of compassion, mercy and the glory of God.

Signs don’t prove anything today because:

a. The Gospel has already been proved by Jesus rising from the dead.

b. The word of God has already been established through the original Apostles. Signs do not confirm any preacher or teacher today.

c. The devil can also do signs and wonders.

Consider both of these scriptures together:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)

And…

“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.” (Jude 4-5)

In the context of Jude, he is talking about members and some leaders of the church at that time, who, even though they confessed Jesus as Lord, and said they believed in the grace of God, did not have genuine faith.

Their “faith” resulted in immorality. Their understanding of “grace” led them to justify all kinds of sin. They had a false gospel.

Salvation is by grace, through GENUINE faith.

Genuine faith is a pure and holy faith. It will never justify sin. It will never try to find a loophole from the Bible to try and excuse it.

There are famous preachers who claim to have the GRACE message who’ve made millions of dollars merchandising it.

That’s not genuine saving faith.

Genuine saving faith will shun covetousness and the love of money.

They have turned the grace of God into a license for their sin.

Kingdom or Church?

Oftentimes we see Christians pitting the Kingdom against the Church, saying the Kingdom is where it is at, not the Church.

It’s a foolish debate because they are not defining Church as it is defined in the New Testament.

The Lord Jesus spoke that He will build His Kingdom AND His Church, which is His body.

He was not taking on two separate projects.

His Church, that is, His people, are the expression of His Kingdom, for now, until His visible Kingdom comes when He visibly and physically comes to judge the nations.

So, obviously, what we know of “church” barely resembles His Kingdom.

The Church is a Kingdom of Priests, scripture says.

It’s not a concert you attend.

It’s an expression of His Kingdom.

So, it’s a serious issue.

Especially when we see Christians isolating themselves from others, not fellowshipping. They are missing the Kingdom.

It always happens that those who know the Lord become His instruments.

Think about this, if a church today truly represented the New Covenant, then all, from the least to the greatest, would know the Lord.

The Bible says God is love, and God demonstrates or asks us to examine His love for us by the fact that He gave His only Son to die for us.

Love existed before men and women were created. The Father loved the Son in eternity, which has no beginning or end.

Men and women only have a concept of love because God gave them the ability to understand what it is.

Of course, the love of God far transcends natural human love, because it is selfless love.

Human love is tainted by sin.

The love of Christ is pure and holy.

Here we have “Christians” who seem to have all the right beliefs, confessing Jesus as Lord, and perhaps they are notable pastors or evangelists, casting out demons, healing the sick, preaching the Gospel, but they never truly repented of their sin, and they were never born again, and never had the true Holy Spirit, and they end up in hell.

You could be following such a person.

Check for the love of money, which is idolatry, love of power, love of the praise of men, love of titles, of self promotion, of loose morals and ethics, which, when consistently practiced as a lifestyle, indicate a person has not truly repented.

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matt. 7:21-23)

Here we have “Christians” who seem to have all the right beliefs, confessing Jesus as Lord, and perhaps they are notable pastors or evangelists, casting out demons, healing the sick, preaching the Gospel, but they never truly repented of their sin, and they were never born again, and never had the true Holy Spirit, and they end up in hell.

You could be following such a person.

This is very rarely taught.

Most people are seeking material prosperity.

This means they are not seeking first the Kingdom of God.

The Lord knows how much faith we have because He gave it to us, and sustains our life, and watches and weighs everything we say, do and think.

And you know how it ends.

It means there are many people today who are looking for Jesus’ return who will miss out on His Kingdom.

The foolish “Christian” is not going to make it.

Foolish means stupid.

These are “Christians” obsessed with stupid things.

If you were a Jew in the Holocaust, could you imagine loving and blessing those who were sending you and your family to the gas chambers? Could you refuse to hate and revile them simply out of obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ, despite what you felt like doing?

It’s a very tough call.
