Notes

a. A world leader is coming who will claim to be God.

b. Revelation 13 says the whole world will worship him.

c. Before he is revealed there is a falling away. This refers to professing Christians. Others can’t fall away as they never had the truth.

d. These “Christians” (and they might still think of themselves as Christians) worship this man, along with the world.

e. The reason the world believes the claim of this man is because of the miracles he performs, and, because they did not love the truth of God’s word He causes them to be delusional, as a judgment.

f. The “lie” mentioned here, which most people will believe, is that this man is God, or, implied, the Messiah or Savior of the world. Yet, verse 12 reveals the nature of this man’s message: “pleasure in unrighteousness”. It implies a religion which does not require repentance from sin, or, which redefines sin as not sin, or even worse, makes sin a spiritual virtue (which is a continuation of the ancient practice of idolatry combined with immorality).

So, the “lie” is twofold, concerning who the man is, and concerning his message.

g. It’s implied in Revelation that the world looks to this man for leadership and unity due to the intractable conflicts and problems it faces.

Imagine if all the people you knew were filled with the Holy Spirit.

If people are actually essentially good, and, religion is good, then, from ancient times till today, after all this time, we would have thought that mankind would have learned to get on together and love one another?

Then, people expect everything to change, when nothing has changed in the heart of man.

So, the only way mankind can try and create societal utopia is down the barrel of a gun, or by the edge of the sword.

This has been the pattern of such social experiments in the past, and this is where we’re heading now.

In natural terms, some people have a good life, others, a bad life. Some have a charmed life, others, a life of suffering. Some have a care free life, others, a very tough life. Some have a lot of happiness, others, a lot of sorrow. Some enjoy good health, others, not. Some enjoy all the comforts money can buy, others, get by without those comforts.

This is how life is.

Yet, there’s something even greater than life itself.

So great, that ultimately, these issues fade into insignificance in comparison.

It’s to be born again. Born a second time. To receive a second chance, a new beginning. To have the eternal life of God in you. To know Jesus Christ.

This is greater than life itself because all these issues of life will soon be gone and won’t matter.

What is true?

To come to Christ is to come to the truth.

To face Him is to face the truth.

To follow Him will mean dealing with the truth.

God made a nation of people in the Middle East, Israel, and gave them His law. The law tells us a lot about God and His values and standards. It wasn’t given to punish man, but to show us what God is like, and show us the sin that is in our hearts, like a mirror, and to prepare us to receive a Savior, who would be God in the flesh, Jesus Christ.

Jesus would reconcile us to God by His blood and spiritually recreate us, writing His laws in our hearts, conforming our nature to His nature.

The law shows us the great chasm between a Holy God and sinful man.

It would be truly horrifying to stand before God and be judged by His law. That’s the dreadful state every one of us finds himself in, without Christ.

The death of Christ Jesus on the Cross, and the shedding of His blood, bridged that chasm between God and man, fulfilling the law for us.

Jesus said, “I am the way!”.

Or do you believe love is something more than simply physical processes which can be observed by science?

Do you believe there is a spiritual realm, even though science can’t observe it?

Nothing can permanently last or survive without love – whether it be friendships, marriages, churches, societies or nations…

And they don’t have to lack love because genuine love is available through abiding in Christ Jesus.

I deleted someone’s comment equating me with a Muslim for not observing Christmas Day.

Its Dec 25th here in India right now. I’m having good fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

So far He hasn’t communicated any displeasure to me that I’m not celebrating Christmas.

I will keep you updated as the day progresses if I feel the Holy Spirit is grieved with me, and if He is not grieved then I will take it everything is fine.

I’m not against Christmas, I’m just not interested in it.

The scripture which blessed me most yesterday morning was in John 15 where Jesus said, “Abide in me!”.

Do you want to abide in Him?

The person who is a new creation in Christ, and in whom He dwells, has the resources in Him to stand even if all the demons in the world, and even satan himself, were to personally show up and attack them at once. Christ overcame the world and the powers of darkness.

If God didn’t supernaturally protect Christians, satan could kill every one of them in short time, as there would be nothing to prevent him doing that. The Bible says that God restrains the devil, so he can’t do everything he might want to do.

The baby in the manger was born with a purpose. He was on a mission.

A great challenge for Christian politicians, celebrities or would be popes. If you’re a genuine Christian then how can you get the world to love you? And you’re going to need their love if you want them to elevate you. Only by compromising the truth, right? Then you would no longer be a genuine Christian.

The “trick” is to support the true teachers and expose the false ones.

The same principle of testing applies to all, whether they call themselves apostles, prophets, reverends, pastors or whatever.

Right or wrong is not decided by popular vote, it’s already been determined by God and revealed in scripture. It’s irrelevant how many people think something is right if God has declared it to be wrong.

The way false teachers hedge and prevaricate when put on the spot is almost as bad as the false teaching itself.

Liberal progressive house church leader says the scriptures are not God’s word.

Bottom line, then? That there’s no moral absolutes.

Then, come to find out that this man approves of things which scripture says is immoral.

We can observe, then, that he wants certain immoral things to be moral, therefore, the only thing inconveniently in the way are the scriptures which condemn it, so, he decides to cancel out those scriptures in order to satisfy his conscience, so his conscience can find peace or assurance that the verses which condemn it are not really God’s word.

In the book of Revelation, “Babylon” can’t refer to the “world system” because it’s the world system which ultimately destroys it. It rides the Beast, but it’s not the Beast. It refers to false representations of Christianity: It’s not fully accepted by the world, nor is it accepted by Christ – it doesn’t belong to Christ or the world, hence, it is judged by God, but He uses the world as the instrument of judgment on her (Rev. 17 & 18).

Where there’s anything fake going on under the guise of Christianity, that’s a manifestation of Babylon.

Jesus’ conception in Mary’s womb was supernatural.

And to be born again is a supernatural manifestation inside a person.

The Holy Spirit inside a person is supernatural.

Spiritual means supernatural.

Abiding in Christ is a supernatural life, where the supernatural governs the natural.

The Lord Jesus commanded us to love our enemies.

He forgave those who were driving nails into His hands and feet.

Paul the Apostle was beheaded, even though he had done nothing wrong. He most probably looked at the guy who was going to chop off his head and loved him.

It’s radical stuff, this Gospel.

If we are mistreated, even so, we should not allow our joy to be robbed.

Love will prevent us being defeated, and we are defeated if we allow anyone to steal our joy.

The Lord Jesus empowers His disciples to keep His words.

If people mistreat you it is their problem, not yours.

It only becomes your problem if you’re not willing to forgive and bless those who persecute you.

One thing you’ll learn about the church/denominational system is that most people who claim to be “in the ministry” will only be your friend if you in some way contribute to or support their “ministry”. This is one reason I’ve opted for relational church the last 30 years. It’s more real.

Is the Holy Spirit good company?

The Lord Jesus really knows whether we love people, so He knows where we are really at.

All people have a free will.

This doesn’t mean they are justified to feel free to do anything they might think of doing.

But it does mean that they are capable of doing anything if they were to decide to.

Fallen man doesn’t want to come to the light, scripture says.

He could if he wanted to, but he doesn’t want to.

The grace of God causes us to want to come to the light.

God is not preventing people from coming to the light, He has given them a free will, and they use that free will to choose not to.

And none of these facts contradict the absolute Sovereignty of God.

Big Pharma doesn’t want the pandemic to end. Nor do governments want it to end, until they have achieved their objective of having digital ID control and surveillance over everyone.

Christmas message

An excerpt from my Christmas message today:

Look at the first 200 years of Christianity. It flourished and spread through Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and even as far as India. Yet there were no church buildings, no cathedrals, no priests, no clergy, no statues or idols, no Christmas or Easter…. ….virtually nothing by which people today would identify something as Christian.

Was this accidental, or by design?

Was this to demonstrate to the world that Christianity is not a religion, as compared with the religions of the world?

If it’s not a religion, if observing all the traditions of Christianity doesn’t make you a Christian, then what is a Christian?

Look in the Gospels. Jesus spoke of His disciples, and what it means to be His disciple.

A disciple follows Jesus and abides in Him.

The birth of Christianity

Last night we read Acts chapter 2. Quite a chapter! The birth of Christianity in one single day. How? The Holy Spirit came. In one day a community of over 3000 people was created. And not just any community but a true brotherhood of love. Love prevailed. People ate together, helped one another, met together to hear the word of God daily. It happened spontaneously because it was the effect of the Holy Spirit. There was a colony of Heaven here on earth. A microcosm or model of the perfect society – a society of love. No need to sing John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’. Nothing needed to be imagined, the Kingdom of Christ Jesus had come in power and transformed thousands into children of God, living in righteousness, love and holiness before God and one another.

The Holy Spirit is still here on earth. What do you think? Has He changed?

The birth of Christianity described in Acts 2 can’t be attributed to the natural ability, skill, knowledge or oratory of the Apostles. It can only be attributed to a “rushing mighty wind” of the Spirit.

If Christianity was birthed this way it can only advance this same way.

Ask the Father to bring His Kingdom and do His will today, and He will do it.

Freedom from the power of indwelling sin is only perceived as freedom by those who want to be free of it, otherwise, it’s perceived as a threat to one’s apparent freedom to do whatever one imagines. A person feels they are free to do whatever they want when their conscience is cut off from God – it is a sign they are lost and need Jesus Christ.

Which explains why certain verses of the New Testament disturb Liberal Progressive “Christians”. They feel it limits their freedom. This is because their conscience is defiled and they see such requirements from God as threats to their freedom, instead of agreeing with God and seeking deliverance from what the Bible names as sin.

“And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

(John 3:19-21)

When Jesus mentions men “practicing evil” most assuredly He means evil as spelled out clearly in God’s word.

Freedom in Christ over your sinful nature means you are no longer are a slave to the desires of your flesh, you are free to choose not to obey those wrong desires.

I meant the false assertion that some people go off the rails because they take the Bible too seriously or make an idol of it, as you say.

Any wrong conduct shows people don’t understand the Bible, even in people who make the Bible an idol. Their problem is NOT that they took the word of God too seriously. That would be ridiculous.

The obnoxious religious person who swears by the Bible has not understood it.

And neither has the liberal progressive, who downgrades the authority of scripture, understood the Bible.

Usually, people who accuse others of making the Bible an idol do so because they themselves don’t understand it or live by it.

What is “born again”?

Jesus said, ‘you must be born again’, so, what is it?

It means He makes you a new person inside, in His image, and you are new because He now lives in you to make you new.

If He lives in you then you delight in His word and live by it. It can’t be that He lives in you and you’re opposed to Him and His word.

And you CAN live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God now because you have been born a second time, as a new creation in Him.

Donald Trump, you must be born again.

Whenever I see or appreciate great or noble achievements by men and women, in whatever noble endeavor, I realize that, ultimately, God deserves the credit for it.

If someone is truly on a quest for spiritual enlightenment why would they ignore Jesus of Nazareth who rose from the dead, and follow philosophies of people who didn’t rise from the dead?

Mockers are instruments of the devil.

Some world leaders are detestable people, but it’s never right to mock them.

Many professing Christians now justify mocking unbelievers or politicians.

There have always been mockers and people full of lust, therefore this refers to professing Christians in the last days.

The message of the Cross is the Good News, and it is the power of God.

Christ was crucified for your sins, died and was buried for three days, and rose again to be your Justifier and Redeemer.

The power to transform you, change your heart and mind, destroy sin and the devil’s work in you, and to forgive and present you faultless before God is all in believing this message of the Cross.

A life of faith is foremost a life of prayer.

Either, Jesus Christ ensured that His words and teaching be faithfully preserved for all generations, or, He didn’t, and Christianity can be anything you imagine or want it to be.

If He had failed to ensure His words were accurately preserved then He would have failed completely.

He didn’t fail.

Spiritual truth is only true to the extent it agrees with God’s word.

The only other alternative would be a spiritual truth is true because people imagine it or want it to be true.

We’re talking about things which are so serious they can cause a person to forfeit salvation, such as sexual immorality.

This is the main issue with Progressives.

They approve things which Gods word condemns.

Their basis for this approval is to cast doubt on the authority of the scriptures, or, at least to cast doubt on the verses which condemn what they approve.

Justifying a sin is the same as committing it.

What verse is that?

“…who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1:32)

But, isn’t it self evident that to approve of something is the same in the sight of God as doing it?

Isn’t it evil to approve of evil?

Isn’t the approval of evil, itself, to put God in the judgment seat and judge Him?

Does Jesus see you as a good and faithful servant of His?

Without the Holy Spirit you would be on your own and left to your own resources.

A true pastor/shepherd to you is one more experienced than you who knows you, loves you, prays for you daily, cares about you, and someone who is an instrument in helping you understand and apply Gods word more clearly.

A true pastor/shepherd will never try and convince you they are a pastor to you, and they will never expect or allow you to call them ‘Pastor’.

The Lord’s Prayer is a summary of the Christian life, and Jesus said it is the way to pray.

Put your faith completely in Jesus Christ.

God’s power is unlimited.

The power He gives to do His will is unlimited.

If you’re doing God’s will it is by His unlimited power you are doing it.

God expects and requires man to do His will only by His power.

That power to do His will is an unlimited power.

His power is not available for things which aren’t His will.

He is not far from anyone in the sense that He calls all to repent and come to Him right now, He is only a prayer away, but He is far in the sense there is a great chasm separating a sinner from a Holy God, and Jesus is the only bridge over that chasm.

So near, and yet so far.

Mankind’s times and boundaries are “preappointed” “so that they should seek the Lord”.

It has become that the objection to evil is “hate”, but the evil itself is not hate.

A “reality church” would be one where the real issues each member faces in real life are addressed, and they’re equipped to be more than a conqueror in Christ in whatever circumstance they find themselves.

It’s a real life church. That’s why it’s relational and open dialogue, not a traditional service.

The validity or credibility of a church is proportional to the reality of Christ in the daily lives of those who attend.

Walking in the light means seeing the reality and true nature of things as God sees it, because the light of God’s word and Spirit has illuminated it. If a person walks in darkness they don’t see things as God sees them.

You might never have seen people as God sees them until the light of the truth shines. You would never have seen yourself and your inner life as God sees it unless His light had revealed it. And when God shines His light in our heart we see Jesus Christ as He really is, scripture says.

This is partly what it means to walk in the light.

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Cor. 4:6)

Either the Holy Spirit is in a person or He is not.

If He is, then God’s presence is there in them all the time.

But what if some people don’t believe this?

What if they think they need to sing a lot of emotional repetitive songs to get God’s presence?

The Holy Spirit has not changed

It’s thought provoking to consider that the Holy Spirit in us is the one and only same Holy Spirit from Genesis to Revelation, the same Spirit who was on all the prophets, and who worked great miracles through the Lord and the Apostles, and has worked to save multitudes through the church age until now. The same Holy Spirit who has been transforming men and women for 6000 years, turning them from sin to the Living God.

We have to believe it, and live as though we believe it.
