When Jesus of Nazareth came along, people saw Him open blind eyes, make cripples walk, and even raise dead people back to life. Then they saw Him die, be buried, and three days later come back to life.

Now, whatever their understanding or beliefs concerning life, death, or God were, the fact of these miracles they witnessed confronted them.

This was not within the realm of philosophy or religion.

They were undeniably confronted with God.

And nothing has changed.

….

No amount of religious observances or rituals can make us Christians.

Only Christ in us makes us His.

…..

Jesus’ physical body is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory.

His Spirit is here, indwelling His people.

…..

Human life literally hangs by a thread.

How fragile we are.

Edwards said that those outside of Christ literally dangle over Hell by a slim thread, and it is the sheer mercy of God the thread hasn’t snapped under the weight of their sin and they drop into Hell.

….

Refusal to pray for someone can sometimes be a refusal to extend mercy.

….

One way to test whether a conspiracy theory is true is to look at the odds or probability that so many people could secretly conspire together to keep a great secret and not break ranks and spill the beans.

…..

It’s futile to seek happiness independent of God.

…..

If you see a dead body, what you’re seeing is someone’s shell. They are no longer in that shell. They are somewhere else.

The inner person is a spirit.

For us who are born again, our spirit lives solely by the Holy Spirit in us. We have no life independent of God.

Christ is now our LIFE.

If we didn’t have Him in us we would be spiritually dead.

And this was our former state: we had a spirit living within this physical shell, but our spirit was dead in sin.

Christ made our spirit come alive by His very presence in us, and recreated us into a new creature, a new person, in His image.

…..

Christian, would you consider yourself to be a servant?

….

Psalm 23:4

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are WITH me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

…You are WITH me.

….You are WITH me.

….You are WITH me.

So I will fear no evil.

…..

Abiding in Christ bears the fruit of that abiding, Jesus taught in John 15.

…..

Dependence on God manifests in near constant prayer and thanksgiving.

The greatest intelligence is God, Himself.

All other forms of intelligence originate from Him.

In the world, truth is a perspective which takes shape according to personal interest. It’s subjective.

…..

Saw a video of some Christians being beaten with pieces of wood for their faith, and they just stood there and took it with dignity. No one could rob their dignity.

It should convict their attackers and the spectators that these people have something they don’t have.

(I can’t mention where it took place)

Eventually we had to evolve a functioning reproductive system, otherwise what would have happened to the human race?!

….

Titus 2:14
“…who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

.
.
We are His own special people.

He is purifying us for Himself.

…..

As Christians, we choose our own discipline. If we drift away from fellowship with God, that emptiness caused by our lack of fellowship with Him is our discipline.

Read today:

“The happier you are within, the less material goods you need to buy.”

…..

All the famous people will soon be dead, gone and forgotten.

Only in Christ does life have eternal meaning.

….

When you see a person do you see a living soul? Or something else?

…..

For every thing which God does for us He’s worthy of being thanked for it.

…..

Societal trends are driven by copycat behavior, which, in turn, is driven by spiritual influence. The starting point is a deep feeling of inadequacy or discontentment.

…..

If people are wonderful, their Creator is much more so.

If people are kind, their Creator, who bestowed them with this ability, is much kinder.

…..

In the Lord’s Table (which is the culmination and fulfillment of the Old Covenant feasts) the simple act of eating a meal and filling our stomachs is elevated to something holy in the sight of God. We can learn something from this, that true holiness is manifested in how we live in this physical world before God: the marriage of the spiritual and the physical.

God knows what it’s like to be one of us because He became one of us.

The Almighty can never be enlisted by man for his own purpose.

….

In Christ, God not only forgives us, but establishes us before Him as if we’ve never sinned.

Jude 1:24
“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy”

Hebrews 10:14
“For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”

Unpack this, and believe Him, and praise Him forever.

Babylon can’t be the world system because the world destroys it, then mourns its passing. Rev. 17 & 18.

….

John 8:44b
“…there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

In this chapter Jesus compares truth with lies. He teaches that the devil replaces the truth with lies in the hearts and minds of men. These lies are created to substitute for the truth.

The devil speaks a lie from his own resources, in other words, he thinks he has the authority to be the arbiter of truth, as if he were God. We see this in the Garden of Eden when he assured Eve that she would not die, contrary to the truth she heard from God.

If God says something, it is true because God said it.

So, the devil wants to get in on this too, and thinks that if he creates a lie, that people should unquestioningly accept that lie as the truth.

Of course, how this works out in real life is that the devil gets people to believe just like he does, that they are the arbiters of truth, and therefore, that they are intrinsically spiritual authorities, so, whatever they say, it must be the truth, because they are the source of truth, yet they’re seemingly oblivious to the fact that the devil is the author of their lie, and their true father.

They are self-referring. They believe something to be true because they want it to be true. So, truth becomes what they want to be true.

Therefore, they speak from their own resources. In other words, they are lying, but have convinced themselves that their lie is the truth.

Keep in mind the subject is about truth IN RELATION TO GOD. Not truth in general.

So spiritual truth is a question of authority.

And regarding the devil creating a lie from his own resources, it could possibly imply he creates a lie and then, out of pride, believes the lie he has created. His pride could be so great that he can’t help but deceive himself.

And then this same equation works out in his stooges.

…..

There might be others who care about your soul more than you do.

Of course, you never asked them to care, but still they do.

…..

If we were to be in control of our appetites, by the Spirit’s help, it wouldn’t necessarily mean we are legalistic or ascetic. It might just mean that we have a purpose for being in control of our appetites. By the Spirit, we can be in control if we want to.

…..

Why should God do anything for you?

Please think of the true response to such a question.

…..

Principled, or expedient?

Expedient:

“(of an action) convenient and practical although possibly improper or immoral.
“either side could break the agreement if it were expedient to do so”

A Christian acts out of principle and not out of any other motive.

Of course, love is the guiding principle.

….

While the manner in which a spiritual message is conveyed is important, the most important thing is whether it’s true.

Whereas, today, the manner or style is more important than whether it’s true.

…..

Every kingdom over history had a beginning and an end. The current kingdoms are no different.

…..

In the Bible, “death” simply means to be alienated from God.

In this context Jesus says to believe on Him and LIVE.

From death to life. No longer alienated from God.

When people physically die, nothing changes with them spiritually. They will exist forever in whatever spiritual state they died, either forever in union with God, or forever alienated from God.

….

The New Testament account of the Christian faith is unique to all other faiths, and even quite apart in practice to historical Christianity, itself. There were no temples, no religious buildings or edifices, no statues or icons, no priests, no rituals, no bells, no smells, no robes, no holy days, no holy ground, no holy water, no superstitions, no list of church rules, no liturgy, etc etc.

Then, what was it about? If it didn’t have anything which normally constitutes a religion, what was it? What mighty power propelled a movement forward which had no religious forms to bind it together?

It was the transformative power of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit. It was a people transformed by the Spirit of God.

The transformative power of the Gospel is why I’m talking to you right now.

The Christian faith is a community of people who share the one fact that Jesus has saved them, and they’ve been born again.

And in every nation there are some Christians who live out their faith together free of the baggage which arrived centuries after the church was born.

…..

Existential thought

Who or what are you?

Are you just an animated piece of meat, a bunch of cells, which came from nothing and will return to nothing?

Are you just a physical lump of tissue?

You might answer, ‘I am a human being!’

Okay, what exactly is a human being?

Or you might say, ‘I am me!’

Okay, what is ‘me’?

What I’m driving at is, we can only know who or what we are in relation to our Creator.

Has your Creator said anything about who or what you are?

…..

Luke 12:15
“And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” “

If one’s life does not consist of possessions, then what does one’s life consist of?

We could also surmise that if one’s life does not consist of possessions, then it also does not consist of achievements, or honors this world bestows, or anything this world has to offer.

What is your life?

What does it mean?

1 John 5:12
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

What did Jesus’ life consist of?

John 4:34
“Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”

And….

John 10:10b
” I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

…..

Ultimately, a Christian’s identity is in Christ alone. Other things, which might appear to be their identity, are not their true, eternal identity.

…..

We’re saved if we have the Savior.

Because we can’t save ourselves.

If you’re outside of Christ then you have no Savior or Redeemer and thus are under God’s wrath and righteous judgment. You’re in terrible danger.

…..

Use your spare moments to talk with Him.

…..

We should remember that the Holy Spirit in us knows everything.

What a Helper!

…..

One effect the presence of elders in a church gathering should have is to help people think a bit deeper than they otherwise would in a traditional church setting.

…..

Spiritually, things which are left undone will come back to bite us, one day.

…..

John 3:1-3
“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” “

.
.
Nicodemus was, no doubt, a good man by society’s standards. And he was a religiously devout man, believing that God exists, and even a man well read in the scriptures.

And yet Jesus tells him he needs to be born again.

Whatever goodness he possesses, or kind deeds he does, or whatever religious beliefs or observances he practices, these do not and cannot make him born again.

And unless he is born again he won’t see or enter the eternal Kingdom of God.

Have you been born again?

……

Now, as God designed everything that exists, then, to think about food, He designed all the flavors (cooked or uncooked) so, to design a flavor would mean He knows what things taste like because He created the taste – and flavors which He knew we would like would be flavors or tastes that He, Himself, liked first. Not saying He had a taste test first, but showing how much amazing complex intelligence went into such things.

The God is in the details.

Many people wouldn’t contemplate that everything that exists was designed.

For example, even emotions, feelings, sensations, and the whole sphere of experience.

Anything you’ve experienced only exists because God designed and created it.

…..

The early church didn’t have to face the issue of some people feeling lonely or forgotten at Christmas because there wasn’t any Christmas.

…..

Who told people it’s not cool to follow Jesus?

Who decides what is cool?

….

Just think how much patience and understanding the Son of God had with the people He interacted with?

Hebrews 12:3
“For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

Being patient with people will undoubtedly bear much more fruit than being impatient with them.

….

At any given point where a person won’t accept what they read in Scripture, that is the gateway to deception and delusion.

….

If we want people to pray for us, it’s reasonable that we also pray for them.

….

Ones attitude toward God’s word is exactly one’s attitude towards Him.

…..

The ways the Holy Spirit works can be deemed mysterious, because God moves in mysterious ways. Mysterious ways means in ways we don’t fully understand or comprehend. For example, He has been given to those who obey God as the Helper, to help us do what we couldn’t do on our own or by our own resources. As far as our witness of the Gospel goes, He is there to help us communicate it and guide our words, bringing His words to our remembrance. So, there is always this tension between these two dynamics: that which is by the Spirit, and that which is solely from our mind, independent of the Spirit. That which is by the Spirit is never solely by the Spirit, but we can also speak entirely independently of the Spirit, which is all of us and none of Him.

And the Spirit won’t force us to speak.

So, if we are silent concerning the Gospel, is this due to Him or due to us?

Silence on our part can be cured through prayer. Be in a spirit of prayer at all times, and this heightens our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and, therefore, if He has something to say to someone through us, we won’t miss it, and also, through prayer, God will move on people’s hearts and sovereignly initiate conversations towards the Gospel or God’s word.

We need to be a vessel fit for the Master’s use:

2 Timothy 2:21
“Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

….

God cannot be our joy if the world is the source of our joy.

And yet we can enjoy stuff even if it’s not the source of our joy.

….

This present, fallen world cannot be united in righteousness, only united in evil.

….

He knows those who depend on Him, and He won’t let them down.

…..

If there’s food in Heaven it won’t be eaten because anyone’s hungry or needs it, it would be eaten for other reasons, like simply for joy and to glorify God. And if it’s there you can bet it’s the best food and wine you’ve ever tasted.

One thing we know, eternity won’t be boring.

…..

Grace is never an alternative for repentance – it’s not an option for those who don’t want to repent.

….

If anything perpetually moves in a certain direction, no matter how gradually it moves, it eventually reaches where it’s heading to. The direction it’s moving in has a destination. Now, apply that to the degeneration of a an individual, society or nation. The world is not getting better. People are not getting better, they’re getting worse, because they’re heading in the wrong direction, which is away from God. Only the Lord knows how far they will descend into evil before God says, Enough!.

…..

Usually people’s objections to the Bible are really their conscience being disturbed by it.

….

Ceasing from sin doesn’t earn our justification, as Christ earned that for us, but it does mean we’re no longer earning the wages of sin, which is death. Abiding in Him is not a meritorious work, but simply the outcome of grace through faith. If we continue willfully in sin then we’re not abiding in Him, and therefore, if we thought we could live this way and still be justified by grace then we’d be deceived.

….

The Bible says God destroyed cities and nations in times past for doing things which are considered quite normal today.

We’ve been sold a bill of goods.
We’ve been brainwashed by institutions of society, government and religion which are blind leaders of the blind.

….

Acts 5:32
“And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

So, it’s most likely that where there is not obedience there is not the Holy Spirit.

Life in Christ’s eternal Kingdom is something like this life, only much better. It would be a supreme tragedy if you missed out.

It’s life as God had always intended it to be.

The life we have lived has been corrupted by sin, by our sin and the sin of others.

It’s barely a life compared to how life is lived up there.

There’s some differences, like you don’t get married there.

Also there’s no temple there in the Holy City, implying the practice of religious rituals has ceased.

No police either.

Never sin, never get sick, never die.

There wouldn’t be much of a problem in observing man-made traditions if we made it very clear they are indeed man-made and not given by God. If churches announced that every man-made tradition is exactly that, and not instituted by God, then perhaps people would start asking why they bother with things God never instituted?

Philippians 3:18-19
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.”

Or… “…they think only about this life here on earth.”

We have to think about this life here on earth.

But enemies of the Cross think about their life here on earth to the exclusion of thinking about God and His truth.

We first need to worship God and seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, and then He will guide how we should think about our life here on earth.

Enemies of the Cross don’t necessarily reject the Bible, prayer or church attendance, but they only see these things in terms of them getting the things they want in life, as a means to a worldly end, because they have “set their mind on earthly things”.

Jesus said: “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold”.

Seems to imply that the love of many believers becomes cold because they are affected by the lawlessness they see around them. It doesn’t seem to imply the believers become directly lawless, but, rather, their love becomes cold, and this opens them up to the possibility of becoming lawless by making them weak and vulnerable.

The church in Ephesus (Rev. 2) left its first love, and yet was not lawless.

Had they not repented of losing their first love it would have led to lawlessness.

So, somehow, believers choose to see stuff they shouldn’t and their love becomes cold.
