Alone

When we take into account all the scriptures say about conscious, eternal punishment it seems that those outside of Christ will be alone forever. There will be no friendship or relationships in that “outer darkness”. There’s no one to talk to. They have to suffer alone. And it’s their utter loneliness, isolation, hopelessness and despair which eats away at them, which is “the worm that never dies”.

Have you ever been truly alone for any length of time?

If you’ve been born again it’s impossible to be alone because Jesus Christ is in you, and you in Him.

Man was not created to be alone.

When a person rejects Jesus Christ they also reject everything God created them to be.

They get what they want, and they have all eternity to regret it.

See, even if you do improve your life it still doesn’t mean you achieve eternal life.

Eternal life is a gift which only Jesus can give.

Religion, at best, can only modify human thinking and behavior.

Whereas only Jesus can give eternal life.

Tucker often used a mocking manner or tone of speech.

Maybe God’s trying to teach him not to do that?

As a Christian it’s dishonorable to do that, and it’s also unproductive, as intelligent people will switch off.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

Verse 1. The coming of the Lord and our gathering to Him IS ONE SINGLE EVENT.

Verse 2. This event is called “the day of Christ”.

Verse 3. Two things must happen before Verse 1 is fulfilled.

Verse 8. When is the Antichrist destroyed? When Jesus returns. This means that Verse 1 is only fulfilled AFTER the Antichrist’s reign reaches its end, because it ends when the Lord returns and we are gathered up to Him.

Verses 9-12.

The deception of the Antichrist is twofold:

a Through signs and wonders.

b. Through a certain doctrine.

Verse 12 indicates that the appeal of this doctrine is that people can “have pleasure in unrighteousness”. They don’t feel guilt over unrighteousness. In this doctrine you can be unrighteous and not feel guilt.

In other words, such people can commit evil and still consider themselves highly spiritual people.

Verse 11.

God gives them a strong delusion to believe a lie.

The lie is twofold:

a. That the Antichrist is God.

b. That sin is no longer sin, but something we can legitimately seek pleasure in without feeling guilty.

Verse 4. Because the true Messiah, Jesus Christ, is God, the false messiah must also claim to be God.

Seems like the world is ready for this, doesn’t it?

In Revelation we only see people around the Throne.

Colossians 2:9-10

In Christ you are complete.

Outside of Christ you are incomplete.

To be complete in Christ means you have everything He has (except His divinity) imputed to you.

But anything other than this completeness is a state of spiritual bankruptcy: separation from God.

You either have everything or nothing.

Even though democracy was created by the ancient Greeks it’s only a recent phenomena, historically speaking.

This great experiment with freedom, however, began to go horribly wrong.

Democracy, not surprisingly, became a choice of good or evil. It was no longer just about “politics”, but about serious moral issues.

Human nature is sinful, so, no surprise that the masses began to have more affinity for evil policies than righteous ones.

And as people increasingly opt for evil leaders it’s no surprise that these leaders crave power to the extent that they would gradually phase democracy out, censoring any other point of view, while denying that they’re doing that.

And thus, due to sinful human nature, democracy becomes a failed experiment.

My tbought was that, perhaps God gave the world one last chance to choose righteousness and freedom, and the world threw it back in His face?

The lesson? Mankind is not worthy of freedom.

Ephesians 5:5-6

Taking the whole chapter into consideration it’s clear that Paul is warning professing Christians that, no matter what they claim to believe, if they are still sexually immoral or covetous they are not going to Heaven.

He is not saying these are the only sins which keep people out of Heaven.

They know what they’re supposed to believe and say about Christian things, and can say it on cue, when required, but their heart is somewhere else. It’s just words.

They may call you “brother” but they don’t love you like a brother – their heart is not in it.

For example, if you make your child’s bed you are not serving them, you’re doing them a disservice. And the same goes in the church. You might get a lot of old pictures popping up in your feed. I get a continuous stream of pics of 70s rock stars. Someone clicked a picture and that memory is still floating around all these years later. But it won’t be long till even these memories fade and return to dust and vanish forever. Whatever significance they had, if any, will be forever lost in time.

To try and hold the things of this present life in your grasp is as futile as chasing the wind.

Quote, “All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.”

Hopelessness.

But the Christian life is about now and the future.

It’s about a sure and steadfast hope based on Christ’s promises.

It’s about a permanent future which won’t be lost in time, which will never decay, which has conquered the futility of existence in this present world.

Do you have eternal life in Jesus Christ?

I saw the movie, Jesus Revolution.

My take away is that it shows the love people had back then.

Another take away is the opening of homes to the seekers. Open door policy.

Very few people want smelly people in their living room.

They don’t want to take a risk.

They haven’t really grasped Jesus’ concept of giving your life away.

On the charismatic issue it portrays Chuck Smith as bringing balance when Lonnie Frisbee started to believe it was all about him.

In the end it sanitizes Lonnie’s life with no mention of his backsliding.

I think God could use it to awaken churches to the real, dying world outside their doors and cause them to ask, what are they doing?

They don’t want smelly people in their living room because they don’t even want clean cut believers in their living room, as it’s their private space.

Another point

I know it’s just a movie, and is extremely limited as to the picture it can paint of the real history of the revival.

But there was an element of the Jesus People movement not mentioned.

And that was that many Jesus professing hippies had not repented of their sins and were still on drugs and extra marital sex.

There were two camps, the real and the fake.

The movie doesn’t touch on this but implies it all was real.

Another point

God can use a movie like this to reach many people with the simple Gospel.

To see the simplicity of how normal people in normal life can be drawn to Christ by the Holy Spirit.

This the heart of everything because it’s God’s heart.

He calls people to, Come!

At that point in history young people were questioning everything.

That was fertile soil.

Everyone should agree that the Holy Spirit should lead everything in an assembly.

The question is, who decides what the leading of the Holy Spirit is?

People have different takes on what they think the Holy Spirit is leading to do.

Another take away from the movie:

Note the emphasis on water baptism as the immediate response to the Gospel, as per the NT precedents.

It’s not baptismal regeneration.

But it evokes a public confession from the convert.

Without this open confession or testimony there would be much confusion as to who is a believer and who is nor.

Hence the wisdom of God in commanding baptism.

It means everyone is a ZERO, a “nothing”, when we come before God as sinners, our nature fallen and degraded by sin.

We come to Him spiritually bankrupt.

By faith He makes us a new creation.

Now, we are still a “nothing”, BUT now we are IN CHRIST.

Being in Christ doesn’t make us “somebody”, because any good thing we now possess comes from Him. We can’t take any credit for it, and we want Him to get all the glory, so we no longer desire to be “somebody” but are happy being a “nobody” in Him.

Let us heed the warning. If we think we are a “somebody” we deceive ourselves, we are self deceived.

This is totally the opposite of what popular preachers teach.

This is perhaps one of the main reasons we get ourselves into trouble, when we think we’re a somebody, when we’re really a nobody.

Pride is a state of delusion before the Throne of God.

The issue with the New Testament church pattern versus the traditional church system is not merely a legal technicality, it’s a question of which kingdom is represented: the kingdom of God or the kingdoms of man, the kingdoms of this world?

A 1 Cor. 14 format presupposes that the Holy Spirit wants to speak through a number of people during a church meeting, and that’s the whole purpose of assembling as a church, to hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking through the body of Christ.

Therfore, a church system which does not allow this must be against the Holy Spirit speaking through the body.

It would actually be against the Kingdom of God.

When a cultural Christian sees a scripture they immediately categorize it in their mind as a “religious” subject, and thus theoretical or philosophical, and therefore not applicable to how they are living moment by moment.

The meaning of our life is defined by our destination.

As Christians, our destination is to be face to face with Jesus Christ for all eternity in His Kingdom.

So, this destination defines the meaning of our daily lives.

In modern Christian music the effort to sound emotional ends up sounding like they’re depressed. Maybe they are and it comes out in the music?

For those in Christ, no one misses out.

Some have very comfortable lives.

Some endure extreme suffering.

But in the end no one in Christ misses out.

So, whether you get everything you want in this life, or whether life deals you a rotten hand, in the end you get your incredible reward if you remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The most intensely religious places on earth are also Godless places.

And the only way He could redeem us humans was to become one of us and legally bear the punishment for our sins on the Cross: the one Man dying for all men.

He became one of us so we could become like Him.

Of all the life experiences a person can experience the greatest is to experience the gift of a new life in Jesus Christ.

I’m sure God won’t judge someone for a wrong understanding of the Book of Revelation, as no one has perfect understanding, but someone who twists scriptures and uses evasive literary devices is a fraud, so, it would not be good to have Him judge you as a fraud on Judgment Day, even though you believe you’re a Bible scholar.

Slippery false teachers say they have an “interpretation” of the Book of Revelation, but when you look at their interpretation it’s not an interpretation, it’s simply double talk, which reveals they don’t believe it. So, instead of coming out and saying they don’t believe it, they offer their “interpretation” instead.

Regarding the Book of Revelation, one of the false assumptions which crops up is, that because the book was addressed and sent to the seven churches in Asia-Miinor (Turkey) this means everything prophesied in it applied to those people at that time. The reasoning is, what good would it be to write to them of things which would take place in future generations?

That would be like assuming that when you see a prophecy anywhere in scripture that it applied only to the people living at that time. Whereas the opposite is mostly true.

Even “if” the Book of Revelation were not fulfilled in our generation, it still speaks to us because it reveals the nature of the Lord Jesus Christ (who is the center of the Book) and it warns and prepares us, and it opens our eyes to the glorious future God has provided for those that love Him.

This is why the first century saints were promised a blessing when they read the Book, even though much of it was still future for them (Rev. 1:3).

And of course, they had the responsibility to preserve the text for future generations.

As we can also be mightily blessed reading it today.

86Personally, I do believe it will be fulfilled in this generation.

God created the universe by speaking one word.

He will destroy it by speaking one word.

He will create a new earth and universe by speaking one word.

It only takes one word from Him.

We really have no clue about such power because we are trapped within our own small minds and our limited, superficial world.

It would be like trying to teach a flea about the power of an elephant. The flea can’t relate to it as his world is much smaller.

One of the reasons religious rituals and traditions were created was to justify the existence of a religious system and perpetuate it. Create tradition, then create a system to maintain it.

If there was Biblical faith and fellowship, such as was in the first century, there would be no grounds for a religious system.

To some extent the Lord Jesus came up against this with the Judaism of the day.

He encountered a system which departed from God and existed to feed and line the pockets of an elite few.

So, their main interest in upholding tradition was to feed the cow which they milked. It was a real cash cow, or the goose which lays the golden eggs.

One is you could create another religion with the express purpose of killing the infidel Christians.

But a more sinister, deceptive method would be to twist the Gospel and create a fake Christian religion, so that people think they are Christians when they’re not.

Another would be to infiltrate true Christianity with fake interpretations of the Bible so that Christians start justifying sin, greed, covetousness or immorality, and thus become spiritually dead.

The key operative word to describe Woke ideology is “control”.

They want to control you: what you think, what you feel, what you believe, and what you will do or not do.

They will control your feelings toward political leaders, and quickly chastise you if you don’t toe the line.

They will control your views on morality or sexuality, on vaccines, on climate change etc..

Woe to the person who doesn’t conform.

It sounds “positive”, right? How could something “positive” be false?

Answer: If your positivity is a lie, then it’s not very positive. You can’t spin a lie into something positive.

If you dismiss the Book of Revelation (as this guy is doing) then what happens?

Revelation 22:18-19
“For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

A guy was calling his false Bible teaching a “hermeneutic”, perhaps with the thought that by tagging this theological label onto it then it lends it credibility, like, ‘Oh, it’s a hermeneutic! Then it must be okay’. The theological jargon tricks the simple minded.

But a heresy is not a hermeneutic, it’s a lie.

Someone told me they were listening to a spiritual teacher and they took note of the parts which agree with scripture and ignore the rest. Now, if a teaching does not agree with scripture then it’s a lie. So, the guy is sometimes speaking truth and sometimes lying. So, why are you listening to him at all?

Man-made Christian festivals are observed by genuine Christians in a God honoring way.

Yet, they could honor Him just as much without observing the festivals.

But with nominal Christians, which comprise the majority, festivals are a dubious exercise. It is that special time to atone for all the weeks and months they ignored God, and feel they have compensated for that by turning up at church on those days.

I wouldn’t think I’m honoring God more by observing a man-made tradition than I would by just living my life day by day for Him.

The first problem with Christian festivals is they were man’s idea and not God’s. This is the first issue to grapple with.

The prosperity gospel is also a derivative of the Biblical concept of God giving temporal blessings for obedience.

Where it goes astray is it turns this Biblical concept into a formula for success and thereby God is used by man for his own greed or covetousness.

And we are not.

So, the only way we can be with Him is to be perfect.

And we know it is impossible for us to make ourselves perfect.

So, we are lost in our sins with no way out.

But God made a way. Jesus is the way.

So, God makes us perfect by faith, because Jesus legally carried all our sins upon Himself on the cross, shedding His blood and dying on our behalf, and rising again to be our Justifier.

God brings us into His Son, so He sees us in Christ, clothed with His righteousness.

So we can boldly approach the throne of God.

“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”
